Riley. The part near at 3:20 when Tom and Riley are first talking about the R Kelly prossicution reminds me of some of the discussions of Michael Vick. Not Huey because Huey is always above everything and would just observe a BBS thread from afar and philosophize about everybody. He's also sort of the 'perfected ideal'. Closest match would be Tom Dubois in that from how I understand it pouhe is 'genetically' black but doesn't seem to have the 'cultural black credentials'. He doesn't view the world the way you think a black man should. I actually would be interested in what you think of the character of Tom. I generally view him as one of the good guys - just a shade or two away from the grandfather, despite being very naive. The other extreme would be to view him as Uncle Ruckus with a clean coat of paint. In this thread I think what bigtexxx said was much more offensive and would unequivocally qualify as racist, but pouhe's comments were the ones that drew a response while texxx was ignored. Why? I did a 'search posts by' scan for pouhe. For the concocted identity of a racist, he sure has spent a whole lot of time in threads talking about songs and TV shows, and has gone to a whole lot of trouble to create a back story. From outside I can only guess at what is really going on inside you, but my working hypothesis to this point is that your reaction to pouhe is like the reaction to Tom in the courtroom when he is 'outed' by Adam West for being married to a white woman, and is basically vilified by the jury. It is one thing to be 'the enemy'. The enemy can't help being what it is, as it was born in another country, or part of another religion, but people through history have always reserved a special place of dishonor for 'traitors'. Of course, I realize that I am apt to be wrong about such things. I apologize to you if that is a characterization that is incorrect or inappropriate, but that is how I've interpreted it.

Tom is a good guy unfortunately - if you must know he represents a problem I have with Black TV in general An educated intelligent black person is always ultra Naive, uncool [nerd] and of course married to a white woman They are often depicted in an unfavorable light [Tommy - from Martin, BRaxton - from Jamie Fox Show, and of course Urkel] In as much Tom is often shown as dorky and nerdy but generally a positive person and personality. It seems like more and more posters on clutchfans are really just alternate nicks.
