Do most of the apples belong to Johnny? That was the usage I was challenging. Republicans get the most support from white women, but it would not be correct to say most white women vote Republican.

No, because it is the exact same issue. About half of white women who vote pull the lever for Republicans, about half for Democrats. It is just the demographic group that is most evenly split. Take the 2020 election for example.
White women went 55% Trump, 45% Biden (all states here pulled from 2020 United States presidential election - Wikipedia) that's Trump +10
White men went 61% Trump, 38% Biden, for Trump +23
Latina women went 30% Trump, 69% Biden, for Biden +39
Latino men went 36% Trump, 59% Biden, for Biden +23
Black men went 19% Trump, 79% Biden, for Biden +60
Black women went 9% Trump, 90% Biden, for Biden +81
It would be entirely accurate to say most black voters, women and men, vote for Democrats. I would certainly say it is fair to say most Latina women vote for Democrats, at +39. White men and Latino men at +23 one way or the other are probably the outer range I would say most vote one way, but now we are looking at a 60/40 split basically. A solid majority, but probably not most. I wouldn't say most Americans are white, and that is a bigger majority. White women are by far and away the most evenly divided.

As I defined my groups as whites plus Asians vs. blacks plus Hispanics in that post (perfectly valid sets), yes the group of whites plus Asians represent a solid majority of the city. I would say most people in Irvine, CA are white or Asian.
