It is off topic but since you raised the issue...

First, judging people by how much he/she makes, what car he/she drives are NOT invented by young chinese. US is the leader of the capitalism, and certainly the most influential culture in money sense. It is US culture to be precise, don't you agree.
There is nothing wrong with it.

Second, if I am, or not one of "them" remains to be seen, but my other post was really about his license plate, nothing to do with his BMW, too many people here drive BMW 7, but their plates are boring like UNIX Geek, Luv 2 Drv etc. I thought YY-11 was very interesting. On a side note though, I am willing to put my bank to bet if Yao is here in the bay, he will probably drive a specially designed porsche, but definitely not BMW. Is there anything wrong with it? of cuz not.

Third, yes he wants success, but how to succeed? NBA at bottom line is an entertainment BUSINESS. Why does not GS have nothing related to it? Imagine Yao brings enough money to NBA and Oakland is packed with asian audiences and cheered crazy like we already saw last year... is it easier for Yao to be more successful? I think it is:

    1) No more refs suck.
    2) The arena is packed with rich asians, Apple, intel, cisco, hp, yahoo will all jump over to rebuild the best arena on earth.
    3) Yao's off court time will be much more colorful.

Lastly, never underestimate Sina and Sohu, as a chinese, why you choose to believe Yahoo and Google or even Chron, more than Sina? In today's internet, is there really any difference between Yahoo Ebay Sina Eachnet Goodle Baidu Tomo? They all perform together and RSS feed to each other, come on. Get real.

The likelihood of the Golden State Warriors acquiring Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming is also as probable as the Chicago Bulls pulling off the stops and signing up Kobe Bryant, Rasheed Wallace and Tracy McGrady.

    'Nuff said?

Why GSW? Isn't it true that about every team in the league wants to sign this dual?

If I judged you based on your post, I apologize. Does it have anything to do with capitalism? I don't think you understand capitalism, it is not about what car you are driving. You kept mentioning rich companies. Those rich companies are multi-national companies, instead of Joe's local store. They go out and look for potential. If you have value for them as a spoke person, you can be in any corner of the world, not to mention that "small poor" town, Houston. By the way, I didn't say those young people invented that value, I have problem with them to adopt that value, coz I still believe the traditional value at least we claim that we appreciate is better. If you still have problem to see that, just compare what rich companies or people do to the community or at least pretend to do, and those super rich people in China right now.

Second, a overwelming asian audience cheering ONLY for Ming, is not good to any team chemistry, you can see our board chemistry. NBA is a business, and it's sport business. You need talent on/off court to win games. You can not separate them. Do you see Kornikova's value is dropping? It's not because she's not sexy any more, that's because she does not have success in tennis. Believe me, Apple and other rich companies will continue to support him as long as he's having success, even in a town like Houston, not to mention the support is mutual.

Yes, I said GS has nothing related to success in NBA, coz they do not prove anything else. You can talk about all the potential future of a new team. First, it's our imagination, second, it's not just up to plan, that you can build a successful team from scratch.

I don't blind trust any media. My guess from my experience that CNN would not imagine that Chinese government will be interested in moving Ming to GS. It has nothing to do with Chinese or US, quite frankly, I don't think one should ever trust one sided source. You have to use your common sense and logic to think what you should trust, not what others tell you. Now, you can enlighten me by telling me what kind of genious business plan can make Chinese government more money when Ming is in GS than he's in Houston. And if you relly think Chinese government is interested a couple of million dollars in international stage, you are wrong. Look at the 80 billion they spent on the national day celebration.

Does that mean if Yao decides to stay in Houston, the Asian population here will double every year?

I bet the Rockets lock up Yao before he can even test the free agent market.

Remember the Jamison trade last year and everyone was saying that GS got robbed by Dallas? There were guys on hoopsworld who believed that it was a salary-cap move and the first step of a master plan to make a run at Yao after his rookie contract. You can see how imginative some people are. :D

BTW, stop it with the Chinese thing. That sh*t is old and I personally am tired of seeing this brought up. You really think it matters to his fans in China that he plays in front of Chinese people? WTF kinda logic is that, for him to find acceptance amongst Asian flks is easy, to get respect from other races is more impressive. Get off the CHinese racial thing, there's a lot of people who don't really give a rat's ass that Yao is Chinese. It's only the racists (Asians and non Asians) that see a Chinese first, basketball player second.

    .........riiight

anyway, just so I feel assured, will Houston be able to give Yao the maxmaxmax amount? Everyone says that Htown can put up the money, but can they really afford to give top dollar? we talk about loyalty and everything, but lets just say that Yao's eunachs in Team Yao decide that its in their best interest if Yao goes to the team that pays the most and I mean Shaq or Garnett, most, will Houston really be able to match that with the players we have on the squad now?

Why is the asian population such a big motivation in Yao's decision to move to another city? Yao has said he likes it here in Houston and Houston has done nothing to Yao to make him want to move.

to compare Shaq to Yao's personality and texture is completly incoherent.

some people assume that asians like to stick together, they are the 'other,' the opposite of americans who are individuals, they are ants that can only survive in close communities. its an extreme statement, but implicit in what many people say.

Hopefully, Yao is about winning because he can force Rockets' management to trade for players necessary to win a championship. Brent Barry and Ray Allen come to mind. How many more 3 point bricks will Yao have to watch before he thinks this current crew is not championship-caliber?

Yao right now is in a situation similar to a high school graduate going to an out-of-state college. Some folks get homesick. Some embrace the independence.

The deciding factor for Yao's decision would be whether Rox management is able to assemble a championship-calibre cast within next 2-3 years.
