Being a future Hall of Famer without a professional championship (Charles Barkley, Dan Marino) OR..... Being a professional champion that probably won't be a Hall of Famer (Pete Chilcutt, Shaun King)?
1st one because when you die, your ring can be sold or buried with you, but your plaque will stay in the HoF forever. Also, guys like Chilcutt and King were lucky that they got on a good team at the right time and that there were other guys who carried the team instead of them. So essentially you are asking if you would rather be lucky or good? I'll take good every day.
Superimposing my personal values upon the scenario...whichever position had the most economic advantage(s). Rich or famous? You can have the famous just give me the money.
