Sometimes, I think the young rockets fans need to spend a few days watching old rocket games videos, because I don't think they realize how good Moses Malone was. He was a 3 time NBA MVP, and made Dr. J play second fiddle during the Magic/Bird era. Just google search fo', fo', fo'.

***k Pippen. Anyone who picks him needs his/her teeth smashed in.

    Hakeem and Clyde

Hakeem and Sam Cassell would be pretty nice too (Sam actually had some tremendous prime years).

Dream is a given and way to easy of an answer...

    This team needs:
Ralph Sampson at center & Glen Rice at small foward
Running RA's O plus Ralph would anchor the D

We have such an incredible history with the Rockets. There are so many Hall of Fame players from our past, as well as players who very likely would have been in the Hall had they stayed uninjured for a decent stretch of their careers, that picking two is damned near impossible. My first inclination was Hakeem (of course) and Murph, the scoring point who played remarkable defense for his size and was scary tough (he frequently knocked the crap out of a dude on the opposing team who thought he could rough up "the little guy" - the far bigger cat didn't stand a chance! refs' reactions? "Settle down, now!" what a different era!), but then I think about Moses and Dream on the frontline, Sampson and Dream, OT and Dream, Clyde in his prime, adios, Martin! John Lucas, possibly the finest pure point the Rockets ever had. One can dream. :)-

I'm going to spread it around a little

If it's any player who played for the Rockets, at the best point in their careers (most likely) not on the Rockets.

Moses Malone and James Posey (or Glen Rice)

If it's any player who played for the Rockets in their prime (on the team in their prime).

    Hakeem Olajuwon & Robert Reid

    Caldwell Jones & Rick Barry

Elvin Hayes & Rudy Gay (we did draft him)

    28.2 ppg
    16.8 rpg

Normally, we don't agree on much, especially in regard to T-Mac, but you are spot on with this pic!! Posted like a true Rocket fan. And I am disappointed it took 8 replies to get the right answer posted. Good job, Tinman!!

I dunno but I'd like to see Lou Lloyd and Robert Horry together on a team. That would be sweet.

I'd actually run with Yao + Dream. With the league currently lacking any big-time centers (apart from Howard and MAYBE Bogut) there'd be no stopping a frontcourt of Yao+Dream. Our low post presence would be such that Martin and Lowry would be standing on the perimeter with noone guarding them due to the double/triple teams Dream and Yao would draw. I'd also move Martin to the 3 and start Lee at the 2. Martin's lack of D would be covered as we'd have Yao and Dream in the paint and he could just force 3's to take it inside (not even Lebron would penetrate consistently with Dream and Yao stood waiting for him.) My starters would be

    Lowry
    Lee
    Martin
    Dream
    Yao

Maybe not the most ideal team in terms of "all time." But in todays NBA I don't think any team could compete simply because of the frontcourt and offensive low-post dominance (seriously, name one current roster than could deal with both Yao and Hakeem at their prime in the post.)

I must agree, any double team would prove deadly, as martin and lee can know down the open shot with ease. You would honestly have to pick your poison
