Talent doesnt = Success Look at Artest or the NY Knicks from a few years ago. They were full of talent with a great coach and we how that ended.
I'd trade for Amare. Mostly because I don't trust McGrady. If I did then I'd say Kirk as he would be the best fit and complete this squad. But Amare is a legit franchise type player and it'd be like getting our TMac replacement a year or two early. Then deal McGrady and his contract in the offseason for lesser players that fit in with Amare and Yao.
You should have used different players for scenarios because really you give only one option so even though you have like 2 trades its like one actual option, trading artest. therefore not a real option...
What are you talking about? What makes you think Amare fits with Yao? The fact that he struggles in a halfcourt system with a C as the team's offensive focus? Why dont you all stop and think about why the GREAT Amare is on the block. STOP AND THINK ABOUT IT...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................Because he cant play with Shaq in a halfcourt system and he cant defend. You have to be able to defend a little in a halfcourt style system or become the opposing teams offensive (b!tc#)focus. But you all say "ah Amare is talented, it doesnt matter if he fits or not. Comeon its Amare, he dunks the ball really good".
Uh, why does this have a separate thread when we already have an amare thread in NBA forum and a random trade thread in the Rox forum? But anyway, you get Amare no questions asked. I don't get what all the Heinrich lovefest is all about..Heinrich is just as inconsistent and bad a shooter as Alston! And you're paying 10 million bux for him....that's equal to Landry and 2 scolas already! If you hadn't realized the Bulls were a lottery team last season despite having him, Deng and Tyrus Thomas and Gordon in the lineup...in the EAST. Amare on the other hand is tantalizing simply because his contract expires the same time as Yao Ming and Tmac. If he takes us to the next level then sweet. If not, we can exchange him for Joe Johnson and Wade/LBJ/Bosh Maybe even Dirk, since Dirk IS the ideal PF next to Yao Ming after all...
I watch plenty on ball including teams other than the Rockets. You talk with no insight. For the 3rd time will you or somone else state logical reasons why Amare will be better here than in Phoenix and why he's on the block. Been waiting for a few hours.
are any of these guys doctors? we need a healer more than anything. maybe even one of those voodoo doctors will be fine.
I never knew struggling was 20ppg and 8 rebs on 53% fg. You insert that next to yao and Tracy becomes the 3rd guy, now you're cooking with grease.
I'd do the Amare deal. PG is the major weakness, but acquiring an athlete of his caliber in the front court is too good to pass up. He has one year remaining after this, and then its a player option. My guess, considering he's young, is that he'd opt out. That works pretty well for us, with Tracy and Amare being two huge contracts going off teh books before summer of 2010. Both would be nice trade pieces next year as well if things don't work out.
I never said Amare is the ideal fit with Yao. In fact, I certainly don't think he is. But that doesn't mean they wouldn't be a damn good combo. The time to transition away from McGrady is fast approaching. If we just stand pat with what we have til 2010 and try to be players then in free agency just like everybody else ... we would be LUCKY to get Amare in Tmac's stead. And did you forget just last year how Amare was tearing it up when Shaq first arrived and Shaq was playing mediocre at best?
He is playing well in Phoenix. He is averaging 21 points a game on 53% shooting. When did that get considered bad. His numbers are almost identical to Yao Mings. Do you really think all Amare can do is athletic dunks? While Amare will take the ball viciously to the rim he uses a perimeter game much more than our own Yao Ming. 56% of Amare' points are scored off of jump shots 38% of Yao's points are scored off of jump shots Additionally Amare has a better percentage on his jumb shots than Yao .446% eFG on jump shots for Amare with 6% blocked .436% eFG on jump shots for Yao with 8% blocked And..... 2 assists a game for Amare 1.7 assists a game for Yao Yao and Amare are both very gifted and talented in there own ways. Amare scores the majority of his points from the perimeter while Yao scores most of his points cose to the basket. Amare has one of the better mid range games in the league and he would look very good next to Yao. I think its on you to explain with FACTS why Amare would not fit well with Yao.
I just to add that Louis Scola only scores 46% of his points off of jump shots while Amare scores 56% off of jump shots. Amare is a better jump shooter than Scola as well. Amare plays defense just as well as Scola so for those people that don't think he would fit well with Yao they tend to sound a bit un informed to me.
Do you honestly think he will play better without Nash? Scola averages 12 ppg and 8 rpg. Whats yors point? You act like we have no production from the PF right now not including Landry's 9ppg and 5rpg. Give Scola the same minutes, and PPG/FG/FT are (theoretically) only slightly lower than Amare's, Rebounding is much better, turnovers are lower, and he plays smarter defense, doesn't require the ball, !5 million cheaper, and won't make any locker room noise and gets in nice hustle plays to boot. Dont try to makeout Amare to be like Dirk. Once agian why Amare on the block?
Whats the only diffence between Phoenix last year and this year? Playing inside out in a halfcourt set.
