I hate those Bulls teams, but I still would have to tip my hat to them. They were so good on offense as well that they could take it easy sometimes on defense. But, when they needed it, they turned the defense on and just choked the opposing offense. You cna probably make a convincing statistical argument for the Pistons because they had to be good on defense all the time. But, if we're just talking capacity -- as in, when it really counts and the players are going all out -- I don't think I could pick the Pistons.

I actually do think Lebron is a better overall player than Bird, but I also think Bird had stretches during games that Lebron will never be able to achieve. However I'm not old enough to have watched Bird play live. I've watched a few games of him playing at his peak, but it's not the same as actually being there and watching him throughout his career.

I also agree that MJ and Pippen were better defensively than their Piston counterparts, but I think the gap between Dennis and Wallace isn't extremely significant on defense(rodman was a better rebounder) I think what made the Pistons better defensively as a team was Rasheed Wallace. None of the Bulls 7 footers were in the same stratosphere as far as team defense.

I had the luck to sit court side and watch the 04 Pistons when I was younger, and the communication they had on defense was incredible. The talking literally never stopped. Rasheed Wallace made the defense better, even in a way not impacted by any sort of statistics we have today.

My argument was that poeple voting in the other thread could have looked 3 or 4 responses down the thread, discovered who the teams were, and using the stats with perspective, picked a team. I understand now that you take both and determine who you think had the best defense, but I'm not going to trust other posters to do the same.

with that said, the defenses are a lot closer than the stats would suggest, but I'm still going to have to go with the 04 Pistons.

Congrats. It looks like most think the 04 Pistons were better. I hope winning an internet poll makes your day, lol.

Only thing I wanted was for a simple 'yeah the 04 Pistons were a beast on D, but I'd prefer the Bulls in the 90's myself'

Instead he puffed his chest out and said "no one" would agree with me that the Pistons were better defensively. That however is 100% not the case so now he has to act like he doesn't care about.

I did. And I said congrats. The numbers could swing in my favor (the vote is close), but I didn't think it would even be close at all. The last part was because there are multiple posts screaming "I win".

Are you two BF and GF or something?

I wonder if people just voted for the Bulls because of reputation. I doubt everyone has even seen the Bulls play

Honestly, I bet there are more posters that haven't seen the Bulls play and voted for the Pistons. The board seems to have gotten more younger posters over the years, which makes sense. The Bulls first title was 20 years ago (now I feel old).

I think the Bulls are more romanticized though and people would vote for them over the Pistons because of what they've heard about them.

While the Bulls would win a series against the Pistons, I would still take the Pistons defense because I think interior defense is the most important and the Pistons with the Wallaces and Tay Prince were perhaps the best of all time.

But the Bulls had interior defense. They had one of the greatest defensive PF's in league history and a multitude of legit 7 footers. They beat teams with centers that would arguably be one of the best centers in basketball in 2004 (Ewing, Smits, Mourning, young Shaq, Mutombo, Daughtery).

What's funny is when the vote was close or in your favor you had multiple gloating posts but now that it's not....you are no where to be found.
