I just heard a true story about a guy who was new to the Houston and the U.S.. His buddy from work went to a strip club with him. After a while, the buddy wanted to go home, but the new guy wanted to stay, so he left without him. He called him at the club a while later and asked if he was okay, and the new guy said yeah, I'm great, talk to you later. Apparently the guy had 3 girls with him, and when he left, the bill was $2700! His buddy went back with him the next day and they negotiated it down to $2000. According to my source, even at that price the guy walked away with blue balls. The worst part? Everyone in his office knows he got took. Oh well, I guess he got to feel like a stud for one night, with girls hanging all over him. Some people might like that, but I don't like the atmosphere on grounds that I hate feeling like someone is trying to sucker me out of money.

Actually, no. I've been to strip clubs twice, and have never spent a dime. Once to Treasures when some friend took me on my birthday. We left after 10 minutes because the the bers were like $9 and the place wall full of sketchy drug dealer types. Second time was at Rick's for a bachelor party in the VIP area. Again, I didn't spend a dime. However, one of the guys in our party who was a regular opened a tap on his credit card, and by the end of the night they taken him for over $3,000. I find the places to be icredibly depressing and I have zero interest in ever going again.
I heard this on the radio last week. If you are planning to go to Treasures, do it soon, cuz it looks like the Gubmint is about to shut it down. And yes, titty bars are depressing as hell to me also, and I doubt I will ever go to one again, unless perhaps for someone's bachelor party. I would much rather go lounging at a place like LZs Pub, Taco Milagro or Cafe Adobe. Beautiful women, and you don't have to stuff dollar bills in their G-string to talk to them.
This explains the sketchy drug dealer vibe at Treasures. When we went my wife was actually with us, and she went to the bathroom this persian guy in a like velvet suit asked her is she was dancing and he could take her to the champagne room.
SizzleChest, you raised the issue of a strip club's finances. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, aka TABC, publishes a book each month that details alcohol sales by liquor license. It's a really fascinating book. Any sale of beer/wine/liquor will be included in this total. Treasures is the #1 ranked seller of alcohol in Texas when you exclude sports stadiums and the rodeo. It's been a while since I looked at the figures, but they do roughly $400,000 PER MONTH in liquor sales. This doesn't even count the cover charges they take in or the payments the dancers must make to work there (which probably averages $40 per night depending on what time they show up). The club is a cash machine, and frankly they probably lessen their tax bill by not reporting everything. Society's moral stigma against nudity and lewd behavior keeps the margins sky high in the industry.
I don't really get the appeal of strip clubs either. Just a bunch of man-hating skanks stealing all your cash. I'd rather just go to a normal club with real women.
