Chance has taken the gloves off on Charlie.

Where was this talk 6 months ago? :)

These guys aren't even real radio hosts so how can you include them?

Btw, John McClain said it would be at least 10 years before Houston ever got an NFL team after the Oilers left. These days it seems he'd rather talk about his bit parts in movies.

You forgot to mention that Lance does better impersonations than Charlie.

6 months ago Charlie was one of if the best sports broadcasters in Houston. Now he is a washed up has been that sounds terrible on air, doesn't know a thing about sports, is offensive, abrasive, annoying, and slits the throats of baby seals.

    ;)

    I have no prefernce.

Whenever one show is broadcasting national stuff and one is doing local, I listen to local.

Whenever one is doing a commercial, I switch to the other, no matter what is on.

If I ever catch a segment in time where both Rich/Mark and Charlie are on at the same time (no commercials, etc) then I usually go with Rich/Mark because I don't like single person radio shows.. even though Charlie is clearly the most talented radio personality and sports guru of the three.. he can be VERY condescending though, while Rich is a bit more amiable to talk to.. I don't really like Mark in that gig at all, however.

    So basically it's a draw..

Richard Justice has yet to show me anything when it comes to baseball.

    Otherwise:

    I miss Wexler.

McClain is awful to listen too, but I guess he has sources.

Matt J - would be tolerable if he played it straight and lost the Rome-like attitude.

Wexler would be a great pick up. Fire Lord and Granato first. Throw their money at Wexler.

the main problem i think is that mark v. doesn't know crap about the nba or the rockets. he checks boxscores but imo he's probably seen less than 20 games in the last 2 years. rich isn't that much better. props to them for the texans coverage which i'm sure alot of people love, i'm just not that into it. i haven't listened to charlie by himself yet but he was my favorite of the three.

I dont understand why many of you hate Dan Patrick's show so much. He has some pretty good bs if you ask me.

He gets alot of good guests.

He is not afraid to ask his guests "either/or" questions.

He makes his guests literally pick a side rather than spinning.

He makes fun of Phil the Show Killer all the time, which is funny.

With his guests, he'll mention subject matter unrelated with what the guest does for a living. (For example, talking football with reggie miller)

He gets easy access to smart guys like Kurkjian, Gammons, Theismann, Herbstreit all the time. He'll also get ego filled guys in salisbury and Stephen A Smith. Guys with attitude that help spice up the show.

Patrick makes creative analogies with different situations. (For example, when Rob Dibble got divorced last year, Patrick made Dibble give half of his career strikeouts to his ex-wife)

Dibble, umm, I'm not wild about him but Patrick dominates the show enough and Dibble does add some nice baseball content when talking about what happens off the diamond.

What I want to know is, what makes his show unbearable to listen to? It's a decent show with different perspectives, as compared to the first two hours of Rich and Marc, which is not informative whatsoever.

610 needs to put Matt Jackson on in the afternoon. He's the most talented and fun to listen to.

So basically, you don't like radio guys that are very confident in their beliefs and stances.

The fact that McClain, Matt J and Rome are somewhat cocky is what makes them good.

Rich and Marc are what Rome would call "niiiiiiiice radio." Their personailities are too soft for my liking. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I don't care for the stupid posturing. If that appeals to you, fine.

But today everyone in sports seems to be playing this attitude crap. Cockiness is so boring because these days everybody plays that angle. I would prefer them to state their opinions without acting like they're cool when they are not. Matt J has to be absolute worst, which is regrettable because he has some interesting opinions. And there is nothing nice about the Beavis and Butthead afternoon guys on 610.

OTOH, 790 seems to be a waste outside of CP. I have always hated ESPN and I was ticked off when 610 switched from TSN.

Patrick has some great bs - in fact, his entire show is pretty much bs. They can't go 5 minutes without laughing to some inside joke. He's got some tools on his show, like Dibble, who seem to do nothing but laugh at Patrick's schtick. He seems disinterested in his interviews, just shooting the crap with them (asking Reggie football questions sounds like the perfect example - you've got Reggie Miller on, get some insight out of him about the Pacers or hoops). I'd estimate that there's less than 5 minutes of sports-related information or even commentary per hour of that show.

You make good points about Dibble.

Regarding the interviews and your Reggie miller example, Patrick spends most of his interviews talking about the subject the guest is associated with, but I think it's great that Patrick will ask opinions on subjects that the guest has no affiliation with because you never hear that on sportstalk radio. I like that aspect of DP's show because that aspect is unique. That's just my opinion though.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. These guys get asked the same questions over and over. I bet they LOVE talking about other sports and interests. Can you imagine how many times Miller is asked about "The Fight"? I'm not saying they shouldn't talk any basketball, but I enjoy hearing players talk about other stuff. I've heard Miller on there before and he is great with Patrick. They have a good rapport together.

That said, I hate Dibble. I think he's lame and adds nothing.
