I know that there are five, but I think these two are the hardest to choose from.

I'm pretty sure that I would have to go with hearing. I think it would suck to spend the rest of my life not being able to hear voices or music or sounds, but to be able to see my children grow up and view things in the world would be better than never hearing again.

Taste.... It might actually save you money too because you can survive on pork and bean type of products..

Who gives a crap about taste if you had to choose out of the 5..

If you lost your hearing from the beginning, then it won't suck not able to hear voices or music. I've learned to deal with it and I don't pity myself. I much rather to lose my hearing than sight. How am I supposed to drool at hot men if I can't see? :)

Aren't there like implants now that can help restore hearing?

Yes, but you have to learn to distinguish sounds and all that stuff which is extremely hard especially if the person is older instead of a baby/child.

    I think in this order
    1. Smell
    2. Taste
    3. Touch
    4. Hearing
    5. Sight

sometimes I think touch maybe able to move up on the list
cause lack of touch means lack of being able to feel pain.

But not being able to feel pain can get you killed, easily.

Having learned to sign, losing my hearing would be the easier to deal with, not that it would be easy in any way.

On another note, it seems that today many have already given up sense altogether. A brave new world.

If you cant hear....you can still do everything you could do before....aside from listening to music...and things that involve hearing...

If you cant see.....you can just sit your ass on the couch the rest of your life listening to people tell you your blind.

I'd probably have to go with sight. That has to be the hardest to manage on a daily basis.

Lady_Di - Do you sign or read lips or both?

i don't think it's really a fair comparison. Losing sight is very severe. I think the better comparison is:

    Losing sight or
    Being Quadriplegic

    Which one?
