EG, KJ, Sengun and Tate. Green's starting to work it out, if he carries on trending upwards you can add him to the list too.
I love the Clarity that I have now. We now know that: KPJ is a wing. Not a PG. (and needs to focus on his strength : Scoring) The Rockets need a quality big, size on the wing and a smart PG badly. House, Nwaba, Gordon and Augustin need to be traded for all the value you can get ASAP. Green, Garuba and Jaygup are a LOOONG ways away from where they need to be as NBA players. (All of them need the weight room and floor time. Garuba & Jaygup need to spend a year in the G-League) Senguin is a keeper who also needs the weight room and more floor time but is further along than the other rooks. Tate & Martin are keepers who NEED floor time. Christian Wood needs to be dealt this year while his value his high and his free agency is not looming. By the time this team is ready he'll either be gone or on his way out by forcing a trade. Silas is not the long term answer at Head Coach. He's a nice guy but this team needs a task master HC to come in and provide structure. They way the Rockets play now, they are learning bad habits that are not geared toward playing winning basketball long term.
15 games in Happy with: Sengun. Better than I thought he was going to be and I thought he was Sabonis. It's unfortunate the coaches think he is just a big stiff that doesn't help with the spacing when in reality he is the energy and maestro you need. Green. Now averaging 14.5 points on 13 shots which is on par with those that came before him both hof'ers and busts. So can he/ will he improve that fg%? Can't write the story for him like trolls do. He gets to the line more than any other rookie not named Sengun. KJ Martin, he worked on his three ball and has a very soft touch around the basket for someone that elevates so high. Very Space Jam of him. Tate is Tate. Every team needs a Tate in their starting five. Disappointed in Wood and KPJ which could be a telling sign for Green when it comes to improving shooting %. Because we saw KPJ work his arse off in the summer for that shot and it's still not falling. But 15 games in for KPJ so that shot is under construction. tbd. And KPJ is still so young but I feel since he does carry that stigma if Silas is gone by the end of the season someone else might not put up with him. Wood? His hands have turned into Corey Bradford's hands.
Tate and Sengun Sengun came in with promise and has actually somewhat delivered. Tate looked like a rotation player on a good team, nothing has changed there. Martin would also be a consideration. Green and Gordon would be guys who I’m neither happy or upset with their performance so far.
Wood - Disinterested is what he has been so far. Some of it is that he is surrounded by inept teammates and a coach that doesn't really use him right. So overall I give him a C- Green - He has been terrible. He has played better of late and it is way to early to right him off but his actual play has been terrible. How much of that is his teammates being terrible and how much of it is him? I don't know, but he still has been bad. At least his attitude and work ethic is strong and I do see some positives so he gets a D Porter - I thought he would be better but he has been part of the worst backcourt in recent NBA history. His defense has improved but everything else is worse. He doesn't do the little things to win either. He has avoided being restrained by security so it could be worse. He gets a D Gordon - He isn't having fun and really really really wants to be traded. I don't see the effort from him in the past but he is in a bad situation, and he has produced and has been healthy. So he gets the highest score on the team, a B Tate - Always plays hard and he is the best player on the Rockets, but he didn't take the big step I expected so he gets a B Theis - He is what I expected, a C+ Sengun - No idea how good he is because his talents and passing requite teammates that know how to play basketball. He still has played solid in most matchups. I don't see him being a star but he can be a very good player on a very good team.... which the Rockets are not right now. C+ Matthews - He takes minutes away from actual NBA players. C- Martin - Still cannot shot but he hustles and tries, he should move in with Tate and copy him in every way possible. If Tate wants BBQ sauce on his sandwich, then Martin should get the same. He gets a B- House - Bad dude, and really is only of any value on a team that is bloated with stars and needs cheap role players. He is a huge waste on this team. He gets a D. Nwaba - I like him.... just not on this team. C Stephen Silas - Sometimes nice guys do finish last..... and sometimes nice guys are not good head coaches in the NBA. Shout out to one of the nicest people on the planet, that was a bad head coach - John Lucas! "Don't call me Raffy" Stone - He has done some nice things, has been saved from some not so nice decisions (Oladipo extension).... and NO one on the earth was happier to see Mobley get hurt more than the Stoneman...... B Team overall: D Let's hope for more lottery luck, and this summer we will have lots of threads about whoever the Rockets next head coach is. Maybe TF will go out and negotiate in the media for our next coach - any coach over 60 better not expect a good contract.
It’s a very short list, and knee jerk or not that sours my view on Silas, and Stone (it’s not possible for me to get anymore sour on TF then I currently am, but he’s responsible for this product as well). Martin, Sengun, Tate, Gordon, Theis have all been solid at this point of the season. Due to our stage of the rebuild, Martin and Sengun are the only players I find exciting to watch, I was originally going to say just those 2, but that wouldn’t be fair to the couple of vets that have done their job relatively well.
Let see who am I have been happy with so far????? Silas, Porter, not playing Wall, Wood and everyone LOVE the play of House this year!
I didn't vote for him but my only thought is that he's the 2021-22 Tank Commander. I mean look at our record.
