With such a deep draft, i say we address upgrade that way.
Center: Whiteside, Alabi, Parakhouski( 2nd round sleeper )
SF: Larry Sanders, Damian Saunders, Kawhi Leonard
    PG: Willie Warren, Jeremy Lin
All i am saying is try to upgrade through this draft as much as possible. Accompanied with a Bosh trade of course.

How bout we take a look at Paul George outta Fresno State. NBADraft.net has him compared to Ariza and Granger.

The best would be a PF/C. That would help keep Yao's minutes down to prevent injuries as well as strengthen our PF position (recently lots of threads have been popping up regarding adding so-and-so PF so I figured that was our "weak link")

A center as an upgrade for Yao has to be the priority

A SF who can put up 18+ pts without taking many shots is next.

Ariza is a defensive SF. Granger is mostly offensive.

So who is he most like? lol

Ibaka is doing a very decent job on the Lakers's bigs. That's why I said we need a rebounding/shot blocking demon. No need to score.

Anybody in the draft that fits that profile?

I voted for center but I shouldn't have,we will need a lot more than a backup center to push us over the top.

Of course. I would have mentioned it myself, except it's so obvious.

Is Daniel Orton worth a 14th pick? I don't think so.

Let's say we stay at 14th, is Whiteside the only one who is out of our range, namely he will be taken before 14th? To me, Whiteside is the most intriguing pick since the kid can play and has size, but there are character questions.

That is because he is young. Plus i don't think he will be at 14 either. Actually i feel all of the top 4 big men will be gone by the time we get to pick. I think our best bet at getting a legit big man would be Solomon Alabi.

Point Guards are generally the players that should be dominating the ball and creating for others. i don't see how brooks, a shoot first point guard, is better than a facilitator like Paul. Brooks has not proven that he can be an off the ball shooter and is a much worse passer than paul. If anything it appears that Brooks needs to be able to score to be successful while paul has shown that he can facilitate and be successful . Plus Paul is a much better at penetration than brooks and if you pair him with martin we would constantly be in the penalty. I think you would be hard pressed to find many people to agree with you that CP3 isn't an upgrade over AB in any system.

I choose center because every knows Yao cannot play 35+ mins a game and we need a good backup center. Hopefully we can develop Jordan Hill or at least trade him and some draft picks for someone like a Chris Bosh or at least get Camby as a back up. Without a good big man would be hard to push for a championship. Look at 93 94 Rockets.....

Not in our system they arent.

No offense to you, but people need to get past this pre conceived notion that there are only two kinds of PGs, a shoot first or a pass first. Its a gross over simplification of a staggeringly complex sport with tons of variables.

And you should probably reread what you quoted because I clearly said Brooks was not nesesarily better.

What? How has he proven he can't be an off the ball shooter? He is a terrific shooter, either setting it up himself or being the reciepient of open looks. Both are effective passers. I think you are confusing creating with passing.

Not even sure what you are trying to say here. We dont need a facilitating PG. Our system does not use a facilitating PG, it uses cutters and motion to create, not a ball dominant creator.

Now this is just idealistic BS. Paul gets to the line 4.2 times a game, Brooks 3.6, plus CP has much more usage and minutes played.

Yea and many people also think that CP3 coming here will magically solve the Yao getting the ball problem. Many people also think Rudy Gay and Corey Maggette are good players. Many people also ignore the Hornets being terrible all season despite being more talented and having less injuries. Many people are idiots who don't watch the game, they just regurgitate was ESPN tells them.

Change the SF. IMHO, Yao, Scola, Hayes and Hill is almost as good as it gets. Add in another rookie and thats a 5 man rotation for 96 mins.

For all the people that wanted Granger, Carmelo and even Lebron for the SF. The player that I truly thinks fits better is G.Wallace or J.Smith. Excellent defender, top notch rebounder and does not really goes looking for his own shot and still comes out with 10+ points.

With Yao, AB, Martin, Scola, Buddinger, Ariza. Points are not really a concern for me.
