I'm actaully happy with this team's ability to put up points. Our biggest need is a shot blocking center. Even if it's not Yao, we need size at the pivot. We also need another defensive wing if Battier does not return to form.

Martin -> Wade is a bigger upgrade than some realize. Wade can finish a lot better (top 2 in league) and has more active defense.

Brooks -> Paul is also a huge upgrade... depending on how cheap NO is, Morey may be able to pull this off in a 3 way. (If Morey does pull this off, he'll vault ahead of Red/West as GOAT GM).

SF Upgrade -> Lebron ... not going there.

Scola -> Bosh reasonable upgrade, but not pressing ...

Yao -> Howard If Yao can play only < 25 productive minutes, then this is a big upgrade... otherwise, it is not an upgrade.

it does mean a lot, but you saw how speed and offense can beat a team too, a defensive, slower pg may not have been able to destroy fisher like brooks did. it all depends on matchups

After what we've gone through this past season, isn't it obvious that a legit center is what this team needs?

No more 6'6" midget playing 5, please.

you must be kidding me right? this is a huge upgrade. he's on the nba all-defensive team vs. weak defense. dwayne wade scores at will (anytime anywhere in any sitation) vs. kevin martin who scores in a scheme. i would trade KM and more players to get dwade

I honestly like the role players we have. I do believe if we actually got a true superstar center that can stay healthy like Dwight Howard this team would be making some serious noise right now. If we ever get a chance to trade Yao ming for Dwight Howard I would do it faster than heartbeat. It is however not going happen. That is however my opinion as how we could get over the top.

there's no upgrade over Yao - because really, the only upgrade is Howard and no way we can get him.

To me, the biggest upgrade we can make is over Battier or Ariza. They are back-ups at the SF position, not starters. An Antony would = ring here, but I think we could do with less. It's really the only reason I didn't want to depart with T-mac - because finding someone who can penetrate and pass the way he can is just so freakin hard.

And just how many superstar centers are there in the league today? Other than DH, Yao is the only legit center who qualifies for superstar and he did not even play this season.

IMO we need to upgrade the PF position and its not because Scola hasn't been great, the dudes been awesome, I love his passion and intensity for the game...

With that said he doesn't give us a better front line than the Lakers, of Gasol & Bynum which I think is the key to talking down the Lakers, by having a superior front line; the Bosh and Yao combo gives us that, but not Yao & Scola combo ...

Lowry's only weakness is shooting, which is solved by having him play with Martin in the back court. So if we have to deal brooks in order to land Bosh, so be it! ... we have Sergio Llull waiting to contribute anyway ...

    Lowry | Llull
    Martin | Budinger
    Ariza | ?(Free agent)
    Bosh | Hill | Hayes
Yao | ?(Lottery pick) | Andersen

Our system is built around sharing the ball. Many passes, many cuts, etc.

Chris Paul is a ball dominant player who creates everything for his team by himself. The ball is always in his hands.

I am not saying Brooks is a better player, but he is a better fit in this system.

First of all Andersen is weak and I didn't see him improve much in the span of, oh, a year. He's gotta go.

Second, Lull isn't a proven player in the NBA. Let's not include him because he's still locked to Madrid for another years. He's trade bait.

    Martin and Budinger

I think that Yao/Scola/Hill/Hayes is pretty damn good at the 4/5, unless you doubt Yao's health. Adding somebody like Miller would be pretty cool.

At the G positions we have AB/Lowry/Martin/Budinger, which again is pretty good.

Now, if you want to call Budinger an SF, fine, but that still means our SF lineup is Ariza/Battier/Bud.

I would really like to upgrade the SF position, though backup C is a big need. I don't know that Hill can't handle it, and I guess we should prepare for Yao not making it - which is what it looks to me like they're doing, anyhow.

PG - Aaron Brooks is deadly long range shooter and very explosive, but I feel if we got a guard who had passing skills on a range from 1 - 10, with 10 being the highest. A PG who possessed, at least 7.5 and could do really well in the half court set would open up our offense, especially against fronting defenses (sometimes collapsing ones as well).

C - Yao Ming with a nice back up (who could become or is solid starter).

PF - People say this is the one, because Scola is not in the league of say...Duncan, Bosh, or Gasol. It's funny, because out of those three players, two of them could not lead a team being the only star on it or the main guy. But, you I think you need players like Scola, Hill, and maybe Jefferies for a title. Teams need dirty work players, especially when they're skilled, can put up good numbers, and have a never say die attitude, like Scola. I would say possibly another backup.

SG - Kevin Martin/Chase will do for now, anyway.

SF - We're crowded there already.

how many players who are less than 6'9 can actually play center the whole season

we have to trade david anderson for dwight howard...i really think if the magic dont win it all this year they might let him void his contract and sign with a contender...howard is athletic, big, blocks shots, and can dunk...he remains healthy and if yao is healthy we can slide yao to power forward and utilize his face up game!
