You have to go with a Center IMO.

The best center off all time is Kareem IMO.

    I choose Kareem.

Errr... no... Wilt blocked it, so did Dave Cowens, so did Hakeem.

No way would I take Kareem. Dude was lazy on defense. The guys I'd really consider would be Wilt, Magic, and Hakeem. Maybe I'm being a homer on Hakeem, but come on... he was DOMINANT on BOTH ends.

easy choice. Magic. Great player, if not of the HIV problem, he could have won a couple more.

    Robert Horry.

No. Seriously though, I thought people keep saying that defense wins championships. But no one so far has picked Bill Russell. I personally don't buy the defense thing. I say solid defense and good offense wins championships.

Btw, I pick MJ. I can't pass up the opportunity to have the GOAT on my team, for whatever reasons. It'd be such an honor. No matter how much Chicago Bulls su*k for the next 20 years, people all over the world will always remember that that's the team MJ played for.

looks likes someone is relying on wikipedia for information. i am not talking about a defender providing help defense and blocking it. i am talking about a primary defender blocking it straight up, not a defender having an angle at it where abdul jabbar didn't see that person and swatted it from his hand.

again, only bill willoughby has blocked kareem abdul jabbar's hook shot as the primary defender.

Again, you're wrong. Wilt and Cowens both got it as the primary defender.

i could give you the benefit of the doubt that wilt could have blocked it, but 6'9" non jumping white boy dave cowens? no way, show me proof.

and if you can't show proof, call calvin murphy on his radio show on monday and ask him if cowens ever blocked abdul jabbar's hook shot.

I'm gonna try to pick players who really haven't been mentioned all that much....obvious picks have been M.J. , Shaq, Duncan, and Kareem. I liked the one who used Pete Maravich...I thought that was out of the blue one right there...most wouldn't know he was probably about the best SG of all time (at the time), along with Jerry West. I thought Maravich was slightly better, he just never had the team that West had.

Or perhaps I'm old enough to remember a Sports Illustrated story from when I was a kid that talked about Wilt blocking Kareem. Which means I'm old enough to have watched the Rockets from the time they moved to Houston.

Don't get smart with me kiddo.

as i mention to a previous poster, i can give anybody the benefit of the doubt about wilt, just not dave cowens or even hakeem defending abdul-jabbar straight up and not providing help defense.

I'm gonna try name players that haven't been mentioned too much...and you probably have decent rosters in few years, but it will be pretty bad team or even below average in beginning. I'm think this team would be 1996 76ers or 1990 Hornets...bad.

    1. Moses Malone
    2. Charles Barkley
    3. Karl Malone
    4. Julius Erving
    5. Clyde Drexler
    6. Earl Monroe
    7. Kevin Garnett
    8. Aryvdas Sabonis (in his early 20s)....I would like to put him even higher than this, because could've been the greatest NBA center of the 80s.
    8. Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo
    11. Dwayne Wade
    12. Tracy McGrady
    13. Dominique Wilkins
    14. Kevin Johnson or John Stockton
    16. Yao Ming (I don't think he has really hit his peak yet, I really think when his career is said done he might be a little higher).

    I said "right now".

....and he's only 22-years-old. It's not crazy to think the best of him is still yet to come. If i'm picking a franchise player [again] for right now you better believe i'm choosing LeBron.
