Last year Garnett was beaten by the Trailblazers, who were at the time the second best team in the league. The Sonics lost to the Jazz in the first round(remember Malone cracking Brent Barry with a roundhouse elbow?)

BTW, I'd take any one of them. I think they're all great.

If Duncan was on the Bulls they'd be in the playoffs.

But they would've been eliminated by now.

The Rockets had some good guards to go with Dream though.

If you have a 2/3/4/5 like KG, that takes a load off your shoulders when the tam has injuries.

Duncan is great, I just prefer KG's versatility.

When you go into a draft, with KG as your cornerstone, you can draft for best player available, not position.

The thing about Garnett though, is that he isn't very aggressive at all when the game comes down to crunch time. He also doesn't seem to care to control the game. He has the talent to score 30 points every night, but you very seldomly see him put up over 30 a night.

Depends on what kind of market you're in, who you can put around the player. Normally I would say Tim Duncan without reservation, because you can more easily supplement awesome tall players with a half-ass backcourt (Dream + Kenny Smith + 1st/2nd year player Cassell).

But Steve Francis' presence in Houston has helped us retain Cuttino Mobley and might also land Chris Webber. Steve's an unselfish, energetic combo guard who players love to play with and who has made rebuilding so much easier...especially when you consider how much he works the phones on our behalf (i.e., Doc Rocket's recent post about Steve and C-Webb). Whereas Duncan's contract ends after another year or two so that he can, possibly, bolt to a Florida team, if he believes the Spurs will start heading to the retirement home one by one.

Out of loyalty, I say Stevie Franchise because he is, truly, rebuilding a franchise. Ask this question again if we land Webber so that I can say, "See? Told ya!"

Duncan is better then Brand. Just check their shooting percentages. Spurs do contend in the west with Brand, but I think the Bulls win 35 with Duncan in the east.

Of course Duncan is better than Brand, Duncan is in the top 3 players in the league if not the top 1. Brand isn't even in the top 20 players in the league, with Duncan, Shaq, Bryant, Carter, Iverson, Mcgrady, Garnett, Francis, Nowitzki, Finley, Payton, Kidd, Odom, Allen, Sprewell, Hill, Stackhouse, Webber, Malone, Pierce, Mashburn, among others ahead of him. (Players aren't in any particular order)

    Francis
    Bryant
    McGrady
    Duncan

I believe along with Shaq, those 4 are the only franchise players in the league today.

Are you saying that Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett,Lamar Odom, and even Iverson aren't franchise players?

Vince - he's looking more like a headcase
Iverson - too fragile, another headcase
Garnett - vastly overrated, doesn't call for the ball in clutch time
    Odom - not yet anyway

I mean you got Francis who can do it all seemingly, no real weakness. Bryant whose will and drive is unparalleled. Duncan who has the skill and fundamentals. McGrady who just flat out balls, and is aggressive unlike his cousin.

In other words if the dream team was gonna be filled out, wouldn't you want this starting five?

    PG Francis
    SG Bryant
    SF McGrady
    PF Duncan
    C O'Neal

    Going with the original question....

    1. Kobe--he's gonna be the best player in the league for a long long time. I'm sure alot will disagree with me, but he seems very Jordanesque

    2. Duncan--best and most well rounded big man in the league...very close to Shaq in dominance of post

    3. TMac--unstoppable scorer, great defender, very similar to Kobe

    1. Duncan
    2. Kobe

Kobe may be one of the best ever, but I would always take a big man over a smaller player.

Wow, take one game out of a player's career to try to show he's not clutch? I guess the 22-5 playoff record doesn't mean anything.

It's even funnier when you see he played all 48 minutes, helped hold Shaq to 8-21 shooting on single coverage (often asking to guard him himself), put up 40 points, 15 boards, and 4 blocks on 15-26.

Duncan has consistently raised his play when it counted. Can you provide proof that Garnett has done the same?
