You people who don't like Bill and Clyde/Bull because they're too homer-ish crack me up. If you're a Rockets fan, why would that bother you?

Their job should be to provide a balanced account of what is happening on the floor, while also informing with analysis and perhaps providing some entertainment with a funny joke/anecdote here and there. I'm enough of a homer as is -- I don't need them to be one as well.

Even though the OP has already mentioned the Celtics' commentators, I still have to go with them as being the worst by far.

There are some other bad ones, but the Celtics' commentators really take the cake.

Remember the Rockets/Celtics scuffle in the '08 preseason? I watched a clip on YouTube with the Boston commentators and I felt like shooting myself.

I can't stand Bill Worrell. I think he is in love with Jason Terry.

ohhh definitely the celtic's, their commentator made me want to pull up a gun and shoot my self in the head....especially in the preseason game against them last year, when Paul walker pushed Mcgrady and Mcgrady retaliated, they said they should have thrown off mcgrady right away, even though Paul Walker started the problem but they said he wasn't that aggressive on Mcgrady...

I would say they are the worse....

That's what the national commentators for ESPN, TNT, etc are supposed to provide.

Bill and Clyde/Bull are employees of the Rockets. Part of the nature of their job (if not an outright requirement) is to help jem up excitement, root for the home team, etc. That's what they're supposed to do on the home town's channel.

The 3-point line was not always a part of the NBA.
Thus, the only way to score 3 points out of a single field goal attempt prior to 1979 in the NBA was to be fouled while scoring a field goal, and successfully completing the ensuing free throw attempt.

.. thus, making a 3 point play "the old fashioned way."

I don't really like the Rockets commentators all that much. The Mavs, Spurs, and Lakers are alright. They usually give opposing teams respect. Hornets, Jazz, sometimes Portland and Boston are horribly. All the other teams' commentators seem like if they are in a good mood, they'll do a good job and if they aren't they'll be either ignorant about the game or just diss the other team.

Cleveland is annoying. Every time I watch them, all they really talk about is how great Lebron is and how the Cavs are better than everyone in the NBA. Every time Lebron makes a shot they goes crazy and whenever he sucks so bad that day, he still find a way to praise him.
