Kinda feel like delving into something controversial.

Also, it's always nice to think about history and how politics and religion can be so absurdly entwined.

All religions are absurd. For people to think they have an understanding of God's intentions is just arrogant.

Scientology is probably the sanest of all the religions, other than Buddhism. Scientologists don't believe in any god, but rather believe in the power of mind in order to achieve great things.

if scientology wasn't a scam and a cult in order to exploit people of their money, maybe I would have some respect for them and their message.

First, we need to identify why that "premises" are.

I don't know why one would think it is a scam or cult. A few people have said negative things about the practice, and it is held as truth to those who oppose the faith.

It is sort of like me saying if Christianity wasn't filled with child molestors, I would have some respect for their message. Or like saying if Islam wasn't filled with terrorists, I would have respect for them. The bad portions of any religion is a small minority. Not a true representation of any faith.

Both of the other religions I just mentioned require payment as part of their faith. In the Christ Church it requires tithe and in Islam it requires Zakat as one of the five pillars of their religion.

I never understood why anyone not part of Scientology or has no affiliation with it whatsoever or who is not affected by it in any way, would have vehement hatred or disdain toward something that others might believe in.

I mean... you believe in Xenu and all that kind of stuff?

Technically speaking, it would have to be Islam because it claims to be the final chapter in the one giant book of religion which includes Adam&Eve's, Abraham's, Moses', and Jesus' (PBUT) religions.

So it would essentially be the combined absurdity of most of the major religions, if they were in fact absurd.

    Moving on.

No, I follow Zen Buddhism. But I've read Dianetics before. It was pretty interesting especially if reading it with an open mind. I tend to defend Scientology b/c alot of tenets of Zen are shared with Scientology.

I don't know if it's a religion or just a cult but Theistic Satanism has got to be one of the most absurd religions out there.

I mean, any religion that has it's followers worship the Devil is just pure insane!

No, but I think relationships with god should be personal. I personally think God, if God exists, has told you everything you need to know from the get go. For people to think that God only talks to them and somehow they are more enlightened than another person is just absurd and arrogant. That is why I have a disdain for religious leaders. Religion is a man made creation used to make them more comfortable with things they don't understand and used to manipulate and control people.

No, but it will reduce some ability to recruit and mobilize people for war.

No, but you remove one of the biggest excuses for it.
