I don't really dig this kind of music, but if I did, I would like Howard Jones. He at least wrote good songs.

I like cross eyed and painless...

Yes the heads do have a special place in my heart as well. I see Dave all the time tooling around the village on his bike.

New Order, I downloaded their new album recently and surprisingly there are a few nice tracks on it.

I can't choose between New Order and Pet Shop Boys. Pet Shop Boys are a really underrated group. So... I refuse to choose. I have the Pet Shop Boys Discography and New Order's Substance - both should be a part of anyone's 80's music collection (even though some of Discography came later).

Man I love them all. Guess it just depends on my mood.

When I feel cool and slick I'll listen to new order.

when i want to sing I choose Erasure

When I want a mixture of both I pick Pet Shop Boys.

Oh forget it! I can't choose reallly but I chose Erasure cuz I know most of their lyrics of the 3 groups.

They all have some good stuff, but New Order has a wider variety, and seems to get it right more than the others. Actually New Order is one of my favorite bands. I like Depeche Mode, but I would put New Order ahead of them as well.

Some of New Order's more recent stuff is still good, but also definitely go way back to songs like Ceremony, Temptation, Everything's Gone Green, etc.

The only New Order I don't really like is when they get a little to "disco-ey".

Tough vote, but I put the Pet Shop Boys slightly above New Order. They were just more creative. Erasure is a very distant third IMO. In this category (I would label it New Wave), the Cure was the best.

new order. it's not even close. they (joy division) were, arguably, responsible for creating the scene that allowed the other bands to exist.

no manny, i'm sorry. ;) you need to go to school jack, TALKING HEADS 101. as mcmark and meowgi both mentioned songs from remain in light, i'll join the chorus. go lock yourself in a room with that album until you worship it. then, i want a ten-page, double-spaced report on its awesomeness. you can e-mail it to me at thegary@iadmitiwaswrongthetalkingheadskickass.com

oh and i also agree its new order by a landslide. can't even listen to the other two.

I see different styles of music.

I like the West End girls song, back in the syntho days.

This is like picking which one of your children you like best for me. I won't do it! :p haha. But if I HAD to rank them it would be:

    New Order
    Erasure
    Pet Shop Boys

ugh....even that was hard. Can I change it? lol.

new order by a longshot. not even close. the band that has stood the test of time the most and one whom i still listen to on a regular basis. i actually had a very enjoyable power, corruption and lies listen on the train from amsterdam to berlin earlier this week.

also, bernard sumner is extremely underrated as a guitar player. along with the edge and keith richards, he is one of my top influences and the guitarist whos playing i try to emulate (rip-off) the most. whenever i get stuck trying to come up with guitar parts i first think WWBSD?

i hate to admit, but i did own a couple erasure albums in the late 80s/VERY early 90s and i never owned any petshop boys. i cant really take either of those groups seriously anymore though.

The very fist compact disc (the first two, actually) I ever bought in my life was New Order Substance, and I still love their music. They're number one for me....just slightly ahead of The Cure.....who I consider a few notches above above The Talking heads, who I put just slightly ahead of The Pet Shop Boys. I liked them all.

And remember; when a musician like RocketmanTex says these bands suck, take it with a grain of salt. He says the same thing about U2.

Well, they're not exactly SRV or the Fabulous Thunderbirds now are they? ;)
