Agreed would of liked Alan Williams. I'm liking Joshua Smith quite a bit though. People talk a lot of mess about his size, but I tell you what he is a brick wall, I have yet to see him get bodied by any big man. He has the Aarron Gray factor, his size makes it hard to box him out, he just always works his way into the paint on both sides of the cout, which puts him in great positions for rebounding and offensive shots. He also has a soft touch and good hands. On defense you cant back him down or go through him, you have to go around which is great. Surprisingly he seems to be a good high passer as well, which is always a positive. The bad is he's fairly slow and doesn't do well on P&R defense at all, if he's standing on the perimeter and his man cuts or drives around him he's basically toast. He also doesn't have much of a vertical and even though he gets pretty good rebounding positioning I can see athletic bigs out jumping him on rebounds. I'd like to see us keep him around, put him in the Dleague and see if he can work on his body and quickness. He'd be a solid 3rd center this year, and could possibly work him self into being a legit backup center after a season or 2.
Only way Joshua Smith gets contract over other guys is if he eats them. No srsly, keep the guy around, Clyde will have something new to joke about during games and not about his old days.
