'05 against Dallas and the first year we had Barkley in '96. I expected a trip to the finals for the '96 team and atleast a western conference finals from the '05 squad.

looks like most of the rockets fans on clutchfans are young less than 30 years old, and cannot remember the past rox playoffs series heart break losses that happened in the 1980s (1981, 1986, 1987) and early 1990s (1993)

why would most fans vote for the 2007 west 1st round series against utah jazz, when the 1997 west finals against the karl malone and john stockton's "dirty" jazz team eliminated us from playoffs via a last second 3 pointer by stockton from 3 feet beyond the 3 point line

If the "new" generation thought 2007 was bad just imagine having your heart ripped out in one singular moment. Literally someone grabbing your huevos and squeezing really hard while all you can hear is Bill Walton saying "oh, oh"

    - '97 vs Jazz
    - '07 vs Jazz was pretty bad. Even worse than '05 vs the Mavs. You could just sense the cruel joke it was, the series slipping away ever so incrimentally each passing minute ...
    - '05 vs Mavs
    - '86 vs Celtics. I know that Celtics team was one of the best EVER all time. At the time I didnt care
    - '99 vs Lakers. I was very disappointed in that team with Pippen
    - '96 vs Sonics. That team absolutely OWNED the Rockets. It was so frustrating watching that team bury the Rockets every year. It led to the trade for Barkley.

All the previous years before '94 I didnt take the Rockets serious enough as a real contender.

Fans are getting younger. They probably dont remember. Or else I'd chose '81 vs the Celtics.

its not just age though because ive been following the rockets since i was 4 years old (thanks to my father). it has more to do with YOF's or TOF's since most of them migrated here post 2004 season

I would say '05 vs the Mavs no doubt...
We had a two game lead.
They cheated their way to a crucial win.
We sleep walked through game 7, losing by 40.

2007 jazz most painful for me.

we were freakin up in the series and totally blew it. unlike 2009 lakers playoffs, i really believed we could've easily won the whole thing once we got past the jazz. there weren't really any teams that could stack up against the rockets then imo. yao and tmac were both surprisingly healthy and still playing at an elite level.

anyways, just thinking about it really frustrates me.

thought about the mavs and the finley incident initially. that was a really, really fun team. they seriously had a shot at it all.

    but then...

...the series w/against the jazz... chuck, clyde, and hakeem. sigh. definitely broke my heart more. would have finally put the rockets/bulls and hakeem/jordan "what-if's" to rest.

but that just a 1st round series, the most heartbreaking playoffs series loss should be like one where you are in the west finals and just seconds away from tieing the series 3-3 when someone knocks a game winning 3 and sends your nba team packing for the summer 4-2

is this the reason why the "new" (less than 30 years old) generation clutch fans hate the new generation (willaims + boozer) utah jazz so much more than the former seattle sonics teams of the 1990s

I think it's because I wasn't even alive then.. so I don't know what it felt like...
I know those players by numbers, not their personalities as I do the ones now.
I started watching during the Steve Francis era.

From the series after the dream era, i'd say the Jazz in 07 was most painful being so close and considering the Warriors had knocked out the Mavs. The team could see a clear path to the WCF, although GS wouldn't have been easy to eliminate.
