The goaltending rule was instituted because of George Mikan, in the 1950's.

Goaltending was outlawed for all of Wilt's career (1960-1973).

Nash seems to get assists effortlessly.

Rebounds has gotta be the one that will never fall. When is the last time someone even grabbed 30 rebounds.

What was the guy who got the 17th shot block thinking? The first 16 were flukes?

Some of the offensive records are driven by the number of shots per game. If Kobe took evey shot for the Lakers in a very fast paced, up-and-down game, I could see him him getting 100+ attempts. If Kobe had a bad night that night, I could see a defender getting 50+ rebounds. The same goes for assists. If a team decided to shoot after every pass from their point guard in a fast pace game, that would be a lot of assists for the point.

moses' record of offensive rebounds will be the hardest. i mean cmon the top rebounder gets like 3 or 4 per game. no way anyone will ever get that many in a game.

I think the blocks would be easiest if ur in prime position for 3 or 4 at a time. I remember Dream use to reject 2-3 guys per possession and if the other team had more balls than brains, they would keep trying.

some people say mo used to miss on purpose to pad his stats but I doubt that. that is a lot of offensive rebounds.

I was gonna say the rebounding stats will be the hardest to break because a lot of those crazy rebound stats resulted partly from the athletic advantage a guy like Wilt and Russell had over most of their competion and we just don't see that now adays. but then again, apparently wilts game was against russell, which makes even more astounding.

well, if Mitchell lets anything like that happen again, he should be banned from the NBA, not just fired :)

Definately the 55 rebounds in a single game, over here im amazed when Ben Wallace and company pull down 19 rebounds a game - which isn't done very often.. 55 would be too hard a task

the denver and steve thread made me think about this. andre miller had his best season as far as assists are concerned, almost 2 a game over his next highest playing on probably the worst team he ever played on.

Didn't Yao go through 13 shots made in a row? vs. the Lakers his rookie year?

EDIT: it was 9 shots, and I think he made like 5-6 in a row the game after (vs. Mavs) before missing a shot.
