If he wins a ring here it will be a Rocket red, if not definitly Denver.

I think the hawks, because he played their the longest right? And he won his defensive titles there or most of them, but i hope with a rockets shirt and that means he would have won a championship with them.

I doubt it - there aren't many names up in our rafters, and for Deke to get up there when we haven't retired Elie's (suggesting no Horry or other champion member) makes me think that there's almost no way.

It was in his contract with the Rangers. That (and Wade Boggs doing the same thing when he signed with the D-Rays) is why they instituted the rule that the HOF decides which cap you wear on your plaque.

You don't go into the Basketball HOF as anything except a great player. If he did, he's a classy guy that would probably wear a jersey that incoporates all of the teams he's played with.

And, no, there is no chance that the Rockets retire his jersey.

    mutombo jersey retired a rocket?

Should the Rockets retire mutombo's jersey?

If we win the chamiponship do you think mutombo jersey should be retired?Houston is starting to have great centers at the postion just like the lakers use to have.moses malone, hakeem, yao, and mutombo.I'm so happy to have mutmbo on our team yao as well.I feel like mutombo has been playing for the rockets longer then he has.I think he has 2 more years in him.

    What do you guys think?

For sure, I think.. Mutumbo has really become a part of this Rockets organization on and off the court.

man, he's the all time second placer of blocked shots in NBA history. and he did that in a Rockets jersey, but I don't think we need to retire his jersey.

I think Matt Maloney should get his jersey retired if Deke gets it retired.

It is because of Matt Maloney, we finally beat the Sonics.

A couple I would retire it if we just got one...maybe if we even just get there to the chamionship I would also.I think some of yaos growth is owed to deke as well.

This is the 3rd such thread today. I love that he is a Rocket. He's doing great things filling in for Yao. However, he is not deserving of retiring his number. If he were to have been here for 10 years, maybe. But a backup for 2 years doesn't quite fit the bill. No one was asking this question a mere 3 weeks ago. Nothing has changed other than he's getting more minutes.

Deke is a wonderful human being. What he has done for his fellow man is beyond amazing. What he has done for the Rockets on the court is minimal, at best. Many were demanding an upgrade at backup center just this past offseason. Let's take it for what it is...a great man playing well in a fill in role. What will the reaction be tomorrow night if he finishes with 0 points, 0 blocks, and 4 rebounds?

I hope so, my autographed Mutombo rocket jersey would increase in value greatly.

We should definitely retire Nick Anderson's jersey.

During the post-game interview last night, Deke said he was looking forward to seeing his jersey on the rafters next to Hakeem's.
