Put it this way, I have all the movie channels, HD, and surround sound in the living room.... And yet I spend all day on my pc.
Okay, I'll play. TV. I'm a madman 8+ hours a day in front of my computer and I need separation when I'm away from work. The separation gets more demanding because I work from home. Plus, being an older guy, I have a LOT of history with the tube and appreciate the familiarity. Don't get me wrong, I love the future of the internet and what it will offer, but I will drag my tv with me as I march forward until it starts looking like an 8-track player.
I agree with you. I hardly get on the internet when I get home from work. I only use internet when I'm working from home. Before I got this job, I would be on the internet at home. However, I just need to be away from the computer when I get home. 8 hours a day on a computer can drive you crazy sometimes. I get all what I need to do during the 8 hour period so I don't need to get on the internet when I get home. So that means Grey's Anatomy and movies are my thing at home.
internet 100% most torrent sites have tv shows up within minutes of them airing, add another 30 mins to download and 5 to uncompress and you got anything you want from TV on the PC.
Another factor: I've been staring at these monitors since 1990 so pushing myself away from the computer is easier. Once the internet becomes one with the home and not only accessable by a computer I will probably vote Internet next time.
Bingo. All new tv's these days have some sort of connection designed to connect with a computer. VGA, DVI, and even HDMI with the newer computers/graphics cards.
Nobody is denying that the technology is there, and I would guess that most on this board know about it. That's not the issue for us voting TV. We don't want a keyboard in front of us 24/7.
I think once the WWW was developed TV was pretty much doomed. You have a medium that can do everything TV does plus its interactive.
The internet pretty easily, assuming that TV really means cable/satellite. Do I still get to play the 360/PS3 and watch blu-rays on my TV? If so, then definitely the internet.
The Internet is definitely more important. (of course, look where you're putting this poll, so the responses will be skewed ) I check the Internet nearly every time I have a moment, whereas I forget to turn on the TV at all (but somebody else probably remembers). I still get cable TV because I need the Internet service and the other person in here needs the phone. May as well buy the bundled package at that point. Not to mention the TV gives him something to do and is good background noise... even if it doesn't show much of my figure skating anymore...
