I'm going to go with 73 wins. As impressive as Wilt's 100 point game is, his 55(!) rebounds looks like an even safer record.
None of those will happen. Period. 100 points is the most likely if Lebron goes insane one day, but that's probably not going to happen.
I'll go with 73 wins. Probably because I can actually see it happening in my life time (whats left of it anyway). Those other numbers just seem stratospheric.
The 55 boards was against Russell too. I agree that record will be very, very tough to match given the slower pace of the game and the lower FG% from Wilt's early career (although to be fair by the mid 1960's the FG% had risen and Wilt's rebounding was still about the same). I think the quintuple double may be even tougher (of course discounting the ones that involve turnovers); if you check the link below you'll see that 10 steals has been accomplished just 12 times in the last 23 years, and all the guys doing it are guards. Compared to that the 10 block games are much higher, 86 I think. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/stl_game.html http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/blk_game.html
Getting 73+ wins seems much less likely to happen than getting a quintuple double. I could see LeCrab James getting 10+ points, rebs, assists, TOs, and the least likely, 10 steals. He could do it this season. But I doubt he could get 73 wins on a all-star team. 10 blocks may have happened only 86 times ever, and 10 steals may have happened only 12 times ever, but only the 95-96 Bulls were able to crack 70 wins in one season. 101 pts or 56 rebs is never going to happen. It would take several OT's. If someone is going off for 101+, his team is probably blowing out the other one.
Wins by far the hardest record will be the rebounds i dont think anyone will come close to that record at all.
Only possible one is 73 wins IMO. One year a team will just be heads and shoulders above the rest of the nba and do it. Those other records wont be broken, I dont understand how the raptors even let kobe score 81 I wouldve laid him on his A** everytime he went to the rim after he passed 50
The wins is by far the easiest. If you took that choice out, I'd probably vote for the points. I used to think 100 points would be impossible. But since Kobe scored 81, I think it is attainable if some guy gone crazy some night.
101 points, might occur sometime within our lifetimes. 56 Rebounds will never happen now that the league is filled with so many talented front courts. 73 wins seems plausible. Quintuple Double.... nobody in the league has the talent to do that at the moment.
56+ rebounds no way, I don't even think anyone can get that in two games. 100+ points, Kobe reached 81, after being really hot, but don't you all realize that is 19 points away from the record. 73 wins, the league is too competitive now for a team to only lose 9 games and you basically need a team of iron men.
Can we have a 5th option: Ariza for MVP? I think that is the least likely. Brooks will get 55 rebounds before Ariza becomes MVP (even of the Rockets.) Sorry, just giving you a hard time.
