All of y'all saying SVG just stop we ain't the houston magic period JVG no thank you George Karl has Heath concerns Hollins nope Mchale is staying for at least another year rockets don't for coaches or make changes quick. We are loyal to our coaches plain and simple we are a young team first year playing with Dwight let our players learn. Why is everybody overreacting we knew our youth and I expierence would come back to bite us. I don't care if we got experience last year it takes time we all knew this period. Dwight came here because of mchale and harden we are building something here be patient my friends. Moves will be made this summer to improve the team in morey we trust.
I like Jeff Van Gundy. Even with our terrible offense this team can still score 100 points due to sheer talent. Imagine if we were holding other teams to under 90 like the old JVG teams? Only thing if you bring JVG in you'd have to change the whole offensive mindset, I would imagine...i.e. slow it down.
thibs would be option #1, adelman could be brought back. SVG, calipari, mcmillain, are the best remaining choices. remember that hollins and karl are openly against analytics approach to coaching. JVG was removed because les wanted an up tempo style. also remember that new coaches such as cassell, ollie, and hoiberg will not be ready to win big in the nba playoffs.
I actually believe Morey will take a shot at this guy : Ettore Messina http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ettore_Messina The guy is a legend in Europe and he is famous of grinding players to the ground through practice, exactly the kind of coach we needed.
Man STFU already, Mchale is one of the worst coaches in the NBA, period. even if we have Lebron James on our roster we will not win anything as long as Mchale coaching this team, he single handedly cost us game 1 and game 2 due to lack of adjustments
I'm going to assume you're Kevin McHale posting from the Rockets locker room. There's no way anyone can make this argument with a straight face. First of all, McHale is wrapping up his 3rd year as the Rockets head coach. That's a pretty long tenure. Van Gundy only got 4 years(and 2005-06 barely counts since that was a lost season due to injuries). Adelman also had 4 years and most of those were mulligans as well due to injuries. Second, please stop with this "young team" crap. You know who else is a young team? The Portland Trail Blazers. Yet they're well on their way to a series win. Also, Dwight and Harden have each been to the Finals. And the rest of the team was in the playoffs last year(while Portland was in the lottery). Third, I'm fine with these things "taking time"....if you're building towards something. But this is a wasted season if the team loses in the first round. And it's a step backwards if they lose in 4 or 5 games considering they took OKC to 6 games last year with an inferior, less healthy roster and no home court advantage. Bottom line, McHale is a failure and needs to go. If he's the head coach at the beginning of the 2014-15 season, it's a clear sign this organization is not serious about winning.
And don't forget, Morey has very strong connection and scouting in Euro league, especially in Russia - where he pulled Bev out from there. I am sure Morey will know this coach better than most of the NBA GMs. This guy's name had been mentioned multiple times the last 2 days for the other openings.
The thing about JVG, the reason the Rockets were at least average on offense was because of TMac's brilliance and unmatched skill set. JVG offense consisted of two plays; one was throw it into Yao and the other was let Tracy do his magic. There weren't many plays, just ways to get Yao and TMac their shots, which is usually because TMac ran the offense in its entirely. There was no running and fastbreaks. If we want JVG, we need to bring an offensive juggernaut to coach and run plays. If we go SVG, we need to redo our roster with more shooters. Basically everyone on the roster needs to be able to shoot the three. I think SVG is the most realistic solution other than George Karl or I would even look at McMillan.
dwight is at the end of his prime, 29 in december. we can only waste one year of his contract, which was this past season, and i dont have a problem with that. but we cant wait for our young players to grow a pair. whats the point of signing dwight if you build a contender by the last 2 years of his contract? he might not even make the all star team that late in his career.
Well, the Rockets need shooters no matter who the coach is. For a team that's so reliant on 3-point shooting, we don't have guys we can rely on to knock down the outside shot. Lin was good early in the season, but he's tapered off. And Brooks was solid but was traded away. The rest of the guys are streaky at best, including Harden. We have to get players who can hit open jumpers.
