I like JVG but I must say earlier this season he was frustrating me. Great coaches adjust and it seem like he wasn't adjusting his system. I was losing faith but watching the last few games with the extra running has made me feel better. Although they are against lesser teams, now would be a good time as any to implement some new strategy and it seems to be working well. I'm glad JVG is adjusting his system now. Either that or this was JVG's system all along and the players are finally getting it.

Ditto. Right there with you. We just picked up nine new players. We need more than 20 games to gel and get things going. We have a few more weeks to get above .500 before the All-Star break and then we will see what kind of team we have going down the stretch and into the playoffs. If JVG doesn't show us something by then, I would be open to looking for a new HC, but you can't fire a guy for being two games under .500 a quarter of the way through the season.

If we were in the midst of a ten game slide, I might be of a different opinion, but we are learning to play together and T-Mac is learning how to put this team on his shoulders. This stuff takes time, but I have seen positive movement.

Keep JVG. At least until the end of the season.

yeah...very high percentage considering that this is a Rockets board. I think they are also the ones who said Yao for Odom and Mimh. :)

the only reason I put that option was I had defaulted the poll to 4 spots...

as for the wait and see folks - that is me (People against posters against JVG) - I say lets see how things go - JVG let Spree, , Grand MAMA, A Houston, and Starks run...once they bought into his system -

    Everyone here is sooo reactionary.

I was AGAINST bringing in JVG and last year I felt that JVG did a great job. He has a difficult stretch this year and all these people want to hang him - mostly people who argued to GET RID of Rudy and bring in JVG. JVG is dealing with the players he has and there are serious flaws in the roster - I can't think of a better person to guide who gets on the team to forge the right mix at this point.

Hey it takes something out of you when you lose especially as a fan.

I have to say that I'm against JVG for this reason:

I believe it's his fault our stadium is so empty. People want to come and see scoring, fast breaks, and great plays. With JVG's style of play you rarely get any of these. HOWEVER...I have been impressed the last few games with the Rockets scoring outbursts. I don't know what we've done differently, but something must have changed. If it is going to stay like this (or we're going to at least average in the mid 90's) then I have no problem with JVG, otherwise kick him to the curb asap.

I'm for JVG, which I know isn't the popular choice here but come on, we need to recognize progress when we see it. 6-2 over the last 8 games and JVG has opened it up a bit more.

We have been seeing more fast breaks, not a ton but more than at the start of the season, and we getting better flow in our offense.

People need to give credit when it's due. JVG has adjusted and seems to have his team heading in the right direction.

That being said, his ultimate report card will be given at the end of the season, just like the players.

I have faith things will get progressively better as the season goes on.

I like the way the games are being coached.
I do not like some of the rotations but all in all the coach has done pretty well with game decisions

The constant negative comments in public really have gotten old
I can't stand that some of our players have to look over their shoulders. (Tmac said he was doing it, I hope Yao doesn't, and I hope Sura and others don't feel that way)

Play Boki more, no start him and I would be alot happier with the coaching. JJ has become #2 to Boki in my mind

Former Knicks player Charlie Ward has said that Van Gundy's demeanor has become somewhat more relaxed over the years. Part of the reason, Van Gundy says, has been out of necessity.

"There are certain teams that can take intensity and certain teams that can't," he said. "That (New York) team you could drive, because they were all crankier than I was. At that time in New York, the league was different. The rules were different. And that group was a nasty lot. You could be after them."

*interesting sounds like JVG is adapting to his players.

so it is safe to say that over 50% of this board is against JVG -

...wow - he has been here all of a season and quarter and you all are ready to run him out of town.
