people on this site will get mad at you for disrespecting a player like t-mac who hasn't done jack squat for this franchise and has a history of quitting but will dismiss a player like maxwell who helped bring this city its first championship.

Some dismissed Maxwell because he quit on the team in 1995 (not me). Some disrespect Francis because they were disappointed in the high turnover rate and his lack of living up to the nickname "Franchise" (not me, love Stevie).

McGrady hasn't done anything to the Rockets franchise- that's exactly why fans here don't criticize. You think they give a frog's fat butt what he did in Toronto and Orlando? Heck and no.

The only thing that matters to Rockets fans is what he has done for the franchise. And in his only healthy season, he was the main reason we achieved 50 wins and a near-upset of Dallas. That's the only thing that matters to Rockets fans. If McGrady quit on us, he would be roundly criticized. Look at what happened with Scottie Pippen. I guarantee you that few to no Rockets fans had a problem with Pippen before 1999-2000.

Until McGrady quits on us, or falls below expectations, he is going to be "the man" on the Rockets board.

 

i'm not sure who is dismissing him. most of the conversation centered around RM95's conversation with tinman. and a few others who said, "max was great...but he's not what you're making him out to be, tinman." which later turned in to, "hey, maybe you're all racists for questioning him!!!" from tinman. the schtick is thick.

i'm not dismissing him...but i can't deny the fact my namesake here quit on the team in 95. that's it. he was my favorite player at the time and it was hard for me to reconcile even then. but it is what it is.

 

I'm talking about the specific incident when francis didn't want to leave when he was traded. fans will complain about anything when they don't like a player and accept anything when they do. fans will be all over a player for quitting, but complained when francis wasn't happy about having to leave houston.
