Yes, I guess my sarcasm meter was out of whack. That is part of the trouble with internet communications. My apologies. I'm relieved, because I was scratching my head wondering where you would get that from.
LOL Yeah I was agreeing with MadMax that I don't get where someone would think Jesus rejected the Jews. I can't think of a single thing in Scripture that would make someone think that, particularly since there were Jewish Christians at that time, including a pretty prominent figure in the Catholic Church that has been referenced in this thread. The Jewish religion rejected Christ as the messiah, but God never rejected the Jewish people. I don't know the exact phrasing of in Scripture, but it is said that the Gospel was to be taken first to the Jew and then the gentile.
Uh, it was a joke on the word "Holy"..... I try to avoid religious threads these days, not much point in them for me. DD
Is there any historical record of the Jews of the time even acknowledging Jesus' existence? Also, from my understanding, Jesus as described in the NT fails to meet a number of the qualifications for the Jewish messiah. For example, he wasn't descended from David on his father's side (seeing as his father is supposedly God).
What other qualifications? As for the descent from David, he is traced to David from both his adoptive father and his mother through different lineages. As the adopted child of Joseph, he would be considered a legal heir of David. He could not be the child of Joseph though, as Joseph descended from a line that was cursed by God and he therefore could not have Joseph's blood.
Here you are at my place And within your glistening eyes I'm watching your reactions As the thing within you cries And I'm bringing you this message Because I think it's time you knew The kingdom of heaven Is within you Through the incense and the candle And the colors on the wall Your image stands reflected As a princess come to call Your suspicions you're confirming As you found them all quite true That the kingdom of heaven Is within you Through the blazing stained-glass windows Moonlight falls upon the choir And it splashes across the altar As a flow of liquid fire And it bathes you in its glory As your life begins anew For the kingdom of heaven Is within you - Powell St. John
