I would love to see all these acts (including The Cure again) but especially the first 3 artists. You have been able to listen to the new Sigur Ros album yet, right? Is it better than "Agaetis Byrjun" and/or "( )"?

How does one define "big name"????

Just a few of the thousand or so.....

Rolling Stones (twice...3rd time this December)
The Who (3 times) plus Pete Townshend solo (once...in a 900 seat theatre  )
    Bruce Springsteen (10 times)
    Little Feat
    Bob Dylan (4 times)
    Grateful Dead (6 times)
    The Kinks (5 times)
    Santana
    Yes
    Queen
    ZZ Top

Oh...not to mention Stevie Ray Vaughan 30-35 times, but never in a place that held more than 500 people. Ditto for the original Fabulous Thunderbirds

You all are joggin my memory, but there are many others lost in the recesses of heavy drug use.

Remember the Sam Houston Col. I can vaguely remember going to many concerts and being very high. I think I saw the Byrds either in 1968 or 1969. The Summit was really good when it first opened.

ive probably seen about 1,000 bands in 15 years, but off the top o' my head here are the bigger ones. (most shows i go to are local/touring bands at smaller clubs).

radiohead - twice at woodlands and once at coachella in 2004.

pixies - my favorite band ever - never saw them back in the day, but saw them twice since they got back together. i actually got a little misty eyed when i finally saw them at coachella.

nirvana - twice - once at the vatican and once at the astroareana, about 4 months before kurt killed himself.

beck - about 6 or 7 times - saw him w/ the flaming lips and he also did an acoustic solo set at westlake high school in austin in 2002. his best show ever was at the austin music hall in 1996 though. he was the party-boy extrodinaire.

willie nelson - 3 times and once on my birthday!

smashing pumpkins - on the siamese dream tour (blew me away) and on the melloncollie tour (fell asleep at the show).

beastie boys - cant stand them anymore, but that 1992 show at the unicorn stands as a top 3 all time show for me.

prince - last year - $90 and worth every penny.

sonic youth - probably about 5 or 6 times. 1992 with pavement (it was only their 10th live show) and painteens at the unicorn was the best i saw them.

black crowes - free show in 1992 at the sam houston colusiuem.

    anthrax/public enemy/primus - unicorn 1991.

fugazi - about 5 times. always awesome.

fishbone - about 3 times. show at the unicorn w/ primus was quite an uplifting experience.

phil lesh w/ warren haynes and jimmy herring (talk about a guitar lesson!) - red rocks, colorado. les claypool opening. im not a hippie, but damn if i wasnt dancing like one at that show. not sure if it was the music, the venue (red rocks is amazing) or the 5 grams of mushrooms i ate, but it was a great show.

as far as festivals, ive been to coachella (2004), 4 lollapaloozers and every austin city limits festival.

i have serious hearing problems now, but it was worth it.

Dude! Did you see Badfinger open for Jimi at the Coliseum? That's when I saw them. Jimi was in a strange mood (for him) that night. Heck, we might have bumped into each other a few times back in the day, before you found your calling. Far out, Man! I'm going to uncork a list when I can get the time to do it justice. I have a bit of trouble remembering who opened for who, and the venue sometimes. So many concerts, so much fun, and a lot of years...

    Oh god...

If I took the time to list every major band I have seen live....I wouldnt have time to do anything else today....and I am not exaggerating AT ALL.

not only have I been a huge music freak all my life...I used to work for the company that supplied the local crews for all Pace concerts.

SO...basically....you name just about any major act in rock, heavy metal, hard rock, and country from 80-95....and I have either paid to attend a show or worked their shows.

I was stoned to the max (no offense Max). What I seem to remember was that Hendrix tried to squirt the lighter fluid on his guitar and light it up at the end, but HPD shut him down and he went offstage mad.

Or it might have been a vision... :)

I started playing in rock bands in 1969, Hendrix was my favorite. My wife keeps an eye on me when I pick up a guitar. Once before church I grabbed a guitar and a little Zepplin "Over the Hills and Far Away" came forth, somebody at the back of the church yelled, 'hey I know that song!'

My wife gave me that stare...

The Coliseum used to rock. Did you ever go down to Allen's Landing and Love Street. All the hippies, rockers and bikers hung out. We would go there alot and just get in trouble... I sure don't know how I survived the '60's.

Man, you must have missed a couple of my posts. I was a huge 13th Floor Elevators fan (and a fan of several other local groups), and they were the "house band" at Love Street one summer when I did the light show at a club down there, the Barge at Allens Landing. (a real dive!) I don't know how many times I've seen the Elevators, or went to Love Street. Great, great times. It was a really hip scene back in the day, but you had to watch out for the Bandidos. They loved the Barge... bummer. Almost got my butt kicked a few times. I saw Jimi every time he played Houston. I wasn't a musician, but all I did was go to concerts. :)

We are old! a young Billy Gibbons...
Bandidos, I don't even want to talk about my connection....
    They were seriously dangerous.

Anyways Love Street, blacklights, head shops... I don't remember the Barge, but I don't remember much of those times. It is all a blur..... :D
