If fully recovered from his injury, and we can't get Bosh I would go after Al Jefferson. In a Jefferson trade we would need to keep Scola to play starting PF. Jefferson could back up both positions.
If we got Bosh, we could still get another good back up big man. :p

Hmmm...Scola starts over a "fully recovered" Al Jefferson. Puff, puff, give, my high homie. I'm a huge Scola fan but NO WAY is he a better player than a healthy Al Jefferson

You are correct but Scola's game would complement Yao much better than Jefferson. Being a double back up the tallented Jefferson would carry a heavy
    responsibility. :p

I would love Bosh, and I'm hoping for the hail mary completion, but I don't want to see us break up the team to make it happen.

I'm not 100% sold on Amare because of his injury history and the lack of one-on-one defense he has shown with the Suns. I'm also not sure he can effectively distribute the ball from the high post in our offense. With that said, he's probably the best available player, and Yao could play from the high post more, which also might reduce the wear and tear on his body. I think the chances of making this happen have improved due to talks with Phoenix at the trade deadline and the up-and-down game we are playing now (which is probably attractive to Amare).

Lee has the high post game to complement Yao, but he doesn't provide much weakside shot blocking or defensive quickness, which are severely lacking in the front court. I also don't think this is a very likely scenario (less likely than Bosh actually).

New York will either resign Lee if they don't get Lebron or they will be forced to relinquish his rights to sign another high-profile free agent. In which case, he would likely go to another one of the teams with cap space for a 10-12 million contract instead of signing with us for the MLE. (My best guess is that NY will sign Joe Johnson and David Lee with their cap room).

I'd be interested in Camby for the MLE as a veteran back up to split time with Yao, and Miller for the LLE as insurance in case Yao suffers another injury.

I'm fascinated by Greg Monroe's potential due to his ability to operate from the high post and distribute the ball, but we'd likely have to move up in the draft to get him.

I have a hard time seeing anyone from Utah on this team, but that's my personal bias against Boozer. (That and he doesn't address any of our weakside shot blocking needs.)

The most likely scenario is that we sign veterans like Camby/Miller to short-term contracts to buy time for our young prospects (Jordan Hill and the big we draft this year).

I am suggesting Al Jefferson as a pf and backup center. why would we want to pay him 12 mil just as a potential back up?

I think Morey is gonna go all out in his recruitment effort for Bosh. Backup plan is probably Stoudemire. He might throw a courtesy offer to Wade, Johnson and Bosh, but I think those three stay in the East.

If he misses on those 5, I think its better to stand pat and try again the following year or deadline.

We need a big who can rebound and play defense more than anything else. With the addition of Martin and the development of AB, we have serious outside threats now to alleviate pressure on Yao. We really don't need a PF who shoots like Horry.

As for the four PFs (Bosh, Amare, Boozer & Lee) listed, I like none of them. If I have to choose, I'd go with Boozer. I'd stay away from Lee who plays no defense and gets abused regularly on the defensive end.

$12 mil-- tooooo much! So we wouldn't need Jefferson as he would upset the chemistry as a starter alongside Yao. Bosh of course would work out better. :p

ironic ur name is 'effthejazz' but u got boozer as a possible candidate for us in the offseason
'eff boozer' Bosh is the only PF that will get us to that championship level those other guys would be picked up just for the sake of pickin one up

look for us to get that future PF/C in the draft as well, preferably, Greg Monroe from G-Town dude is seriously skilled

Bosh or not we still wouldn't be favorites to win it all. You think us with Bosh (and minus a few people among Brooks/Scola/Battier/Jeffries in the trade) is going to be enough to overcome a lineup of Kobe/Gasol/Bynum/Artest/Trash/Odom or Lebron/Jamison/Williams/Trash/Trash? We would be scrapping even with the next tier, Dirk/Butler/Haywood/Kidd/Trash and Durant/Westbrook/Green/Harden/Trash.

It'll all come down to Yao. We go as far as he takes us. And with his history he won't be a favorite to take us far. All we can do is hope that he holds up and is close to what he used to be pre-injury.

Is Horry underated or what? The has won everywhere he's been.I mean do the rockets win the 2 championships without him?Does SA or LA win there championships without him?He is been the pf for the best big men ever Dream,Shaq,Tim.If anything why not try to find someone like Horry for Yao.
