i think you're misreading The Cat. My interpretation was: That most baseball people in the media elsewhere didn't believe Bagwell was among the cheaters. That Bagwell is one of the good guys (I read this to say "he's a nice guy because of what he's done before AND BECAUSE he didn't cheat, furthering his 'nice guy' image" .. not "he's a nice guy THEREFORE he didn't cheat")
okay, forget the competitive comment because the only point i'm making is they all are. what an athlete does never surprises me, witness steve mcnair. so personality shouldn't come into play, yes i understand you may feel these guys are stand-up guys. people felt that way about mcguire. and no matter how you spin people felt that way about clemens. yes, he's a blowhard but I think most people wouldn't have felt he was a cheat.
That's fair. That's fair, too. And now we have evidence about Clemens. Something which we don't have for Bagwell.
That's not what I said at all. What I said was people are able to analyze him for what they know, instead of random, baseless, paranoid suspicions. Everyone has their own conspiracy theories about everything -- that's fine, I do too. But by and large, baseball people are able to separate the two, and judge him based on what they know, not baseless theories. A few folks in Houston are all I've encountered that seriously try and judge him by the latter, and act as if they should or will impact his HOF candidacy.
