I had said SB and Alston were right at/close to their peaks. Alston's last two years are anomolies. They are extremely high minutes for a lower quartile starter/servicable NBA player. I also pointed out most of most accomplished coaches do play their stars high minutes (Pop is the exception, who isn't playing anyone high). But all of theme use more bench and don't play role players as high as JVG. One way the minutes are different is when role players struggle they try different guys more often. An 85% superstar (fatigued) still can have a big effect, but this isn't the case for a role player. E.g., if Head sin't hitting the 3 or Alston not hitting the 3, they are just a huge suck to the team. The trends are pretty striking in the big picture (JVG more concentrated minutes for a few players, including role players)--as I showed a couple of pages ago.
