I still dont get why people think Green deserves a shot with Houston. If he had played his high school ball in California would you even care if the Rox took a look at him. Yes he won a slam dunk contest, so did Harold Minor and Kenny Walker. That doesnt mean you can play team bball.

He couldnt get playing time on terrible teams. Only way he gets significant time for the Rox next year if if we are worse then terrible. Dont see that happening.

in alot of ways he reminds of me jr smith

these kids coming out of high school want to be the next tmac, and have the highlight reel dunks, but have no concept of defense or team play.

anyone who denies the talent is there has to be blind, but its going to take alot of time to nurture him because the problems (with both of these 2) are strictly between the ears...

could he be a franchise type player? its hard to say. with jr smith, you can see these flashes of brilliance and wonder if he could just figure it out what couldn't he do?

I think the right environment goes along way in developing talent (see: Spurs, San Antonio) and I think with the team we have right now, that is definitely the right kind've environment for a palyer like gerald green to learn what NBA basketball really requires...

Are you talking about Green not getting a shot to play in the playoffs? You have to prove you belong on the court in the regular season before you get a shot in the playoffs, and Luther Head at least did that. What has Gerald Green done? Everyone points out him averaging 10 points in 22 minutes in Boston, but I don't see that being significant at all. Any of our guards can average 10 points in 22 minutes. We can take a look at him in the offseason, because we need a wingman, but I don't see him getting significant minutes.

    Gerald Green sucks, point blank.

JR Smith always had the ability to score.

Gerald Green couldn't do anything worthwhile to write home about on that lowly Celtics team.

He couldn't do much when he got traded to that T-Wolves team.

And, he couldn't crack minutes on this Rocfkets squad.

Athleticisim is null and void, if you can't hit a shot.

And he can't hit a shot consistently.

He sucks. The Rockets don't need him.

They have more pressing needs than somebody who's 'athletic'

A backup SG/SF who can create his own shot, more size up front, etc.

Well you are right. Luther Head showed he could play and he has had a lot of good games in Rocket uniform. But when it comes to playoffs we all know what he is able to do

Gerald Green is a good kid who could be pretty good player in the NBA in the future but I think it all depends on him. Adelman belives in his players. He gave Brooks and Landry their opportunities. I think Gerald deserves it too.

I still belive we can upgrade at backup for Shane/T-Mac but it doesn't mean Gerald doesn't have roster space. We at least should give him a shoot, see what he can give to this team

If he does happen to make the team next year he needs to follow Carl Landry around to learn work ethic and Uncle Mutumbo for learning the ins and outs of being an NBA player.

He deserves a shot because he is 6-8, 22 years old, can shoot and is ultra athletic. Compare that to our slugs like tiny Luther Head and Bobby Jackson and non-athletic semi-slugs like Shane Battier and Mike Harris and you begin to see the need to give him a strong look.

i would like to see him in a rocket uniform next year. i'm actually surprised at all the hate everyone is giving him. if he can be had for cheap, why not? he didn't really get a chance on the rockets.

Worse that could happen is that he's another Stromile Swift. Plenty of athletic potential but dumber than a rock.

I don't think he deserves a chance,he has to work hard with a coach right now or else he won't be able to be ready for the upcoming season. I don't mind him being on the team during the pre-season but he needs to improve greatly in order to get a guaranteed contract.

From what I've heard, Green's jumper really isnt that bad at all.

Assuming that is true, and assuming he keeps his athletecism, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on our squad next year.

He obviously has a lot of things to work on, but if you have a shot and athletecism, you always have a chance to make an impact.

I like Green's game. He's long he's got a good stroke and he can sky. God knows he loves to play for houston.

I hope we at least sign him to the summer league team.

It has taken most of the high school players 2-4 years to get it. That being said if the Rockets can afford to pay him a little and more importantly, have the roster spot, I'd give him a shot. Let him go to camp and try to get in the rotation. If he can't, cut your losses and either trade him for a 2nd or just cut him. We need athletes with size in the back court and he's got em both.

Who knows, being on a veteran team that has playoff hopes might just be the push the kid needs.

But can Gerald Green figure out Rick Adleman's complicated read and react motion offense???
