Adelman is not going to put him in the rotation any time soon. He hasn't had a stretch of good play all season long. If you think the blazers are too athletic for him the lakers are even worse.
Just like I said in the offseason, he shouldn't have ever been signed. If the old, unathletic spurs decided to upgrade him with mason jr, why did a equally unathletic team want to sign him? He can't guard 1,2,or 3 men with quickness or size. He's a situational player just like hayes. If u need free throws at the end of a game or a play for a 3, that's cool, but anything else he's a waste. At least this summer we can combine his salary with someone and get another really good player.
Alderman is waiting for right moment to have Barry come in. Just like Hayes did in game 4. They're all pawns in the chess game called NBA playoffs.
I remember our first game against portland in regular season. Rudy Fernandez absolutely tore Barry apart.
like many of you guys had said. Von was the reason and i am happy. Beside he hasn't been shooting too great lately. we will give his salary to Von.
Artest pisses me off the most in this series; after that its Wafer. Despite Wafer playing really well, his low basketball IQ really angers me at times. Barry might see some minutes against Vujacic and Brown. Portland is way too young and atheletic.
We signed the guy for 2 years, what a waste of a couple of million dollars, we could have bought some Tony Robbins motivational tapes to play to the team and saved ourselves some money.
Where he belongs with a DNP-CD.... Did Not Play - Coaches Decision. Brent plays little to no D whatsoever and scores occasionally. Our Bench is 9 deep and that is all we need. Don't need anymore chuckers after Von. I prefer Von's ability to shoot and dunk than Barry.
He's not going to be a factor on the court, but he will be off the court. He needs to motivate the Rockets and talk to them about his playoff success and experience. He's only going to play in late games when we need 3's. He's not going to be in the rotation for production like Von Wafer is.
If only we could! Barry is contracted until the end of next season - which will be the next time we can use the LLE anyway. We're going to have to find Von's salary from someplace else (unfortunately!)
It isn't about matching up with the Blazers. Von Wafer is just a better player. Rotations are always shorter in the in the playoffs. Barry is done. He's a slick passing, 3 point shooter who doesn't pass well anymore and doesn't hit the 3 ball.
He's on the bench where he belongs. Too old and too unathletic. If and when the Rockets advance, he'll continue to ride the bench. The bad part is that we're stuck with him for another year.
The Rockets are still WAY over the salary cap and will easily exceed the luxury tax threshold once they re-sign Artest. Basically, the most the Rockets can possibly offer Wafer is the full MLE (which he is NOT worth); and since the team will be over the luxury tax threshold, Wafer would then cost the Rockets up to TWICE the full MLE. Bottom line: I don't see the Rockets being able to re-sign Von Wafer unless one of the following things happens: (1) Wafer takes a substantial discount to market value (even 2009 market value, which is lower due to the economic downturn), to the point where it would be ludicrous NOT to re-sign him; (2) Artest re-signs at a substantial discount AND the Rockets are able to dump Brian Cook's $3.5M salary on another team; or (3) T-Mac is ruled by an independent NBA-appointed physician to have suffered a "career-ending injury" (which will provide the Rockets with up to $11.5M in salary cap/luxury tax relief).
