Where would Yuli be at if he had played in the MLB since the beginning?

Vinny Castilla was a much better defender than Yuli, at 3B to boot, but Yuli is the better hitter but with less power.

I feel like we were robbed of a great player who has only done what he is asked his whole life/career. Kind of sad but it has worked out for the Astros and us fans perfectly as he likely would have never been an Astro.

I have often wonder how Yuli feels about being robbed of his early career and not being able to play against the best. Has anyone seen an interview with him on this subject? Probably happy that his brother gets to play his whole career in MLB while at least Yuli gets to play some of his career in the MLB with some big playoff moments unlike his father who never even got the chance. Better late than never but still sad he was controlled for so many years.

I like the Beltre comparison but think Yuli would be a little more consistent and less injury prone early in his career as compared to Beltre. Was shocked that Beltre’s best and most consistent years came in his 30’s. Think Yuli could have had an MVP type season or two in his 20’s given his pedigree and some of his Cuba stats.

He could have defected earlier. It's not like it's impossible. I take it that he enjoyed Cuba and his family. I'm sure he was taken care of there. Even in communist countries, some people are more equal than others. In the end, he's still going to make millions playing a game he would play for free.

The only thing he missed out on is legacy. Like Ichiro. Ichiro would have definitely broken Rose's hitting record if he played his entire career in the MLB.

Yuli was the son of the most famous baseball player in Cuban history so I’m sure there was a lot of pressure not to defect and I’m sure his life was pretty badass even before coming to the US.

Dunno if this has been posted, but it's a new to me. Yuli's approach has been amazing this year, and the numbers back it up. Looking at what his career trajectory has been in the MLB, it really does make you wonder what he would have done with an earlier start.
