Neil Diamond wrote a song about it......hear it....here it go.....

L.A.'s fine, the sun shines most the time
And the feeling is 'lay back'
Palm trees grow, and rents are low
But you know I keep thinkin' about
    Making my way back

Well I'm New York City born and raised
But nowadays, I'm lost between two shores
L.A.'s fine, but it ain't home
New York's home, but it ain't mine no more

    "I am," I said
    To no one there
An no one heard at all
    Not even the chair
    "I am," I cried
    "I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
    Leavin' me lonely still

Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of bein' a king
    And then became one
Well except for the names and a few other changes
I you talk about me, the story's the same one

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried, but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared for the sound of being alone

    "I am," I said
    To no one there
An no one heard at all
    Not even the chair
    "I am," I cried
    "I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
    Leavin' me lonely still

As for me, I'd say neither. Give me ATL, Nashville or Charlotte. Too much traffic in LA and too cold and too crowded in NYC. Besides, I hate in no particular order:
    1. the Yankees
    2. the Mets
    3. the Knicks
    4. the Lakers
    5. USC

New York is a complete sh!thole. I've spent a considerable amount of time working there, and the people are complete azzholes. The city itself is cramped, cold in winter, hot in summer, the subways are disgusting, rent is truly absurd, the apartments are old and crappy (despite what you pay), and there's no room. I secretly think the people who live there tend to hype it up to convince themselves that it's not as bad as they really think. Get the hell out of there and live like a king in a cheaper place like Texas or the south in general.

LA has a similar azzhole clientele, but at least the weather's nice and you're by nice beaches.

I'd avoid NY like plague. The only time I would go there is probably watching the US Open.

I've lived in the Tri-State (NY Area) for the past Ten years but I just bought a house in Houston and will be moving back. However, I will still be working in NY going back and forth between states.

Everyone that thinks New Yorkers are assholes should look at themselves first. Maybe they were being an ******* to you because you are one yourself. People here in NY treat you the way you treat them. If you are an ass, we treat you like one. We don't have time to deal with the fake people and just get straight down to business. Sometimes our pushiness to get things done right away is seen as being rude. However, dealing with laid back Cali people does get on my nerves more.

My family lives in L.A. so I've actually lived out there as well. L.A. people will smile in your face and stab you in the back at the same time. It's just the way it is over there.

Being in the entertainment business it's easy for me to prefer New York over L.A. for many reasons. However, one of the main things is that everything in L.A. shuts down at 2am. New York never closes down. If you want Chinese food at 5am in NY, you got it! If you want to have a drink or hang out a club at 8am in the morning, you got it! New York is much more musically diverse than anything L.A. has to offer.

As great as the weather is in L.A. all year round, I still prefer the Hamptons and the Jersey Shore over L.A in the summer time. There is just something about partying at Neptunes in the Hamptons which is a club literally on the beach. Also, DJais in Belmar, NJ is the BEST BAR I've ever been to! It's right by the beach, hot girls, drinks are reasonably priced, and great live music as well as bringing the best djs around the world.

See for me, when someone asks about NY or LA, you have to look at the whole TRI-STATE Area and not just Manhatten. With that being said, NY hands down beats L.A.

I tried living in L.A. three times in my life and just couldn't do it.
I am looking forward to returning back home to Houston! Whattaburger here I come! ;)

One thing I have been hearing about Houston is that it IS turning into another L.A.

    I sure hope not!

I don't think I could live in either one of those cities. But if I had to choose, I'd pick LA simply because I could easily go to other parts of California that I'd like much better...
