Are you listing Favorite players? Because I don't know how Novak can make a top 10 of people you'd start a franchise with.. and how did Darko get in the mix?

Noway. yao has more potential and more game then amare. atheletic 6'11's come like a dime a dozen. however a 7'6 atheletic multi skilled big man who can play faceup or postup with unbeliveble regular ease are so hard to find. yao is a once a generation beast..

YOur name is Yao #1 but you dont' have yao as 1st?

    1. Yao
    2. T-mac

I am not being a fan with my first two choices, I am basing my choices on how they will perform in this coming season.

    3. Kobe - He's pretty good.

    4. Lebron - the King

    5. Wade - lebron just have a little more tools than wade

    6. duncan - consistent, and then think about what level he is playing on

    7. Notwizki - I won't put him this high if he isn't 7 feet tall.

    8. Arenas -only going to get better, he is different.

    9. Brand - Still lacking something, but he is already very good.

    10. KG - how many more years can we give him the benefit of the doubt?

if it was actually a draft Yao is first pick.

Remember not only is he 7-6 310 with skills, he's also the biggest cash cow since Jordan and probably even tops LeBron as the most marketable guy.

And of course the fact that a big like him and THAT big comes along once in a very long time, you know like Wilt, Shaq, Yao.

I would say after that it's very close with Kobe, Duncan, LeBron, but I would guess Kobe would be most people's choices.

Remember we are talking DRAFT here, Yao would be going over Kobe because in drafts you always draft big.

    I'd take Yao @ #1.

You don't pass up on a player with that type of size/skill/persona/marketibility, especially at a position where 99.9% of the players are stiffs.

Dirk is Tmac's biatch. He has never been and will never be as good as Tmac. One can dream though

Ok am I the *only* one that doesn't think Lebron is as good as Kobe/T-mac/Yao/KG/TD? Seriously, dude looks awkward when he plays. Nowhere near as fluid as Tracy, let alone Kobe. I'm no Kobe lover, but he owns Lebron in pretty much every level possible and somehow Lebron gets more love than he does. Same for T-Mac. I'd take Yao/Duncan over Lebron as well. Duncan may not have the stats that Lebron does, but his presence alone makes the Spurs title contenders. Lebron can't say that. Mine would be:

    1. Kobe
    2. Duncan
    3. (healthy) T-Mac
    4. Yao
    5. Wade
    6. KG
    7. Nash
    8. Dirk
    9. Lebron
    10. Melo
    11. Gasol

amare is where he should be. Not on the list. I wouldn't draft him ahead of any of those guys because of his bum knees....unless he proves otherwise

    1. Kobe
    2. Lebron
    3. Yao
    4. Dirk
    5. Dwight Howard
    6. Kevin Garnett
    7. Carmelo Anthony
    8. Wade
    9. Chris Paul
    10. Elton Brand

I couldn't list T-Mac because of his back issues. No way would I gamble on him and his back if I had a draft and contracts didn't matter. I listed Kobe ahead of Yao because I think Kobe is probably the best player in the NBA. Same for Lebron. Yao is a center and a dominant center, but in today's game a dominant center is not as valuable as a dominant guard. Too easy to double and triple team him in the paint. Duncan doesn't make my top 10 because of age and consistent injuries.

    1) LaBron --> Best player in NBA
    2) dWade --> Finals mvp, close to LaBron
    3) Tmac --> can do eveything, shoot, drive, pass (littel biased)
    4) Dirk --> tough defensive matchup because of height advantage
    5) KG --> can still do everything well, but not longer at the top
    6) Kobe --> great player but hard to build team around him casue nobody wants to play with him
    7) Carmelo --> Still getting better, played well in world championships
    8) Duncan --> Consistant
    9) Bosh --> he's gonna be a 20 10 guy for years
    10) CPIII --> playmaker and young

I feel like i'm taking crazy pills!!! Yao would not be picked first. He might not even be picked top five. Marketing aside, even then, i think lebron is worth more than yao - lebron is just too good, and too young to be passed up. He is the heir, and i don't think any gm would pass that up for yao - a big man - also, there is someone named dwight howard, as far as big men go, offers more versatility, youth and speed; chris bosh another young big, who can move, isn't good at d, but tremendous offense, d-wade, who is a winner, and you have carmello - dirk - kobe- cp3 - in the mix. but i am sure that no gm would take yao first!!!

There is definitely a chance Yao would go first, even though I didnt have him that high. There are GM's out there that know the value of a big man, especially a center. Just look at the contracts of Dampier and Foyle as examples. After Yao and Shaq, there is no one close to them at the 5 spot. I will also throw in Amare even though he is PF on most teams other then PHX. Every other position there are multiple great players.

PF - Dirk, Brand, Duncan, KG, Bosh, Marion,
SF - Tmac, Lebron, Melo, Vince, Pierce
SG - Wade, Kobe, Redd, Allen, AI
PG - Nash, Paul, Parker, Arenas, Kidd

Also, when you look at the average to above average players at these other spots they are much more valuable to a team then an average center would be ie: Battier, Rip Hamilton, Baron Davis, Richard Jefferson, vs. Rasho Nesterovic, Nazr Muhammad, Eddy Curry.

I bet if CD got the first pick in this type of draft, he would go for Yao.
