Great points. I believe that as the Rox keep winning through ball movement, Mobley will see how much better he is off the pass. I also think that the Rox as a team will see how much better they can be when they swing the ball in the face of a double team rather than dribbling into or through it.

How many of you will totally reverse your opinion once cat has a 6 turnover game. I know the true fans wont bash him, can't speak for all of you.

Props to the Cat for winning last night's game. NJ allowed him to work, and he took advantage.

I'm a well-known Cat hata. I don't like his bad shots, I don't like him handling the ball, d/l him not feeding the post or using the 2-man game, d/l his size, or his whining to the refs.

All that said, so long as he's here, Cat should get more good shots. They just need to be good shots, within the offensive flow. If he can hit coming off a pick on a curl, if he can play the pick and roll, if he can nail the open jumper, if he can drive on a big man's clear out - that's what we need. He could also set some picks for Steve. That would help alot.
I don't think we need another undersized dribble penetration one on one specialist.

Let's put this in perspective! If Cat let's the game come to him, he can be an out of site player in this league. Van Gundy must sell his game and Cat must buy it!! Plain and simple.

I don't think it's valid bashing any of our players right now except for moochie.

I haven't been tracking fans, but I doubt its true. When Mobley plays poorly, the BBS bashes him. When he plays well the BBS praises him. But, I don't think individual posters are swinging back and forth all the time. Whether you're a Cat hater or Cat lover, you speak up only when Cat brings some evidence for your position. When Cat has a bad game, I doubt the posters here will be calling for his head; they'll just lay low and wait for his redemption.

My point exactly. Same goes with the Rockets, they lose 1 game aganist Memphis then people are doubting we were gonna lose to the bulls? Do you people call yourself real rockets fan when you doubt we will lose to the bulls?

Then in the preseason we started of bad, losing 4 strait. People even doubting we would make the playoffs. Then rockets win 4 strait coming into the regular season and prediting the rockets to win the 5th or 6-th spot.

If we lose the Orlando this upcoming saturday. I can almost see people saying were gonna lose to Miami.

Amen ... I think everyone has been playing well this season. Sure everyone can do a few things a little better, and moochie can do alot better. This will be an excellent team when they get pike and adrian griffin back. Its going to be an exciting year.

I'm also very happy with Braggs this season especially. I think he should get a few extra minutes a game based on his hustle alone. I think he gives the whole team a boost when he is in.

at times I want him but at times I dont! At times he gets real crazy but then he pulls one of those (last night)! and he has signed for less money than he could have gotten anywhere else! Obviously he want to be in Houston.

For every game that he goes 8-9, he plays 3 with his head up his a$$ and goes 4-12. Lets not praise this guy too much. Its only been one game. Lets see what he does against Orlando

I fully expected this thread today. After all, Cat plays the style of ball that... well, when he's hot... he's going to win games for you. That's true of any gunner with talent. Unfortunately, their lack of offensive discipline will hurt you at times, too.

Cat's one of those players that will win some for you, and lose some for you.

His offense is great, his defense is actually improved to the piont where it's not only no longer a liability, but actually an asset (except against larger 2 guards that post up)...

...but I just don't know. If I knew he'd be ok with only being a gunner when Yao is on the bench - fine. But I'm just not sure he's going to ever accept that. We'll see. At worst, Mobley's not having a very negative effect on the team... so keeping him until JVG is sure won't hurt all that much. At best, he can learn to mute his wild shooting mentality when either A. Yao's playing or B. when he's just cold.

The best part is that we get Cat's game for a mere 5.4 million a year. Thats less than:

    Eric Strickland
    Eddie Robinson
    Kerry Kittles
    Shandon Anderson
    Charlie Ward
    Howard Eisley
    Bob Sura
    Avery Johnson
    Tariq Abdul Wahad
    Jason Williams
    Ruben Patterson
    Derek Anderson
    Ron Mercer

These are just some of the guards in the NBA that I came across. Imagine paying Kerry Kittles 2 times as much as Mobley is making. All these guys are so overpaid, yet we have Mobes at a bargain price.

Dont even let me get into the overpaid forwards/centers, no time for that one...

Cuttino is our Hornacek. as Francis and Yao are our stockton-malone, for so many years they always needed that 3rd threat. Mobley is our 3rd threat. Capable of going off at any time and being there when we do need him. Of course everyone is entitled to off nights. Memphis loss for example but we definitely need at least 3 strong players. We have that now. Let's go get our rings shall we? :D:D

    Right on.

The Cat is going to have a career year. He is back on the prowl.

He just needed a new litter box to do his thing in.

As long as he stays out of the jungle the night before games and gets him some balls of yarn to play with at home instead he'll be alright.

Hornacek isn't really a good comparison. I don't remember him taking a bad shot.

I'm not really making a judgment as to the value of either player... and I'd agree that 3rd threats are great... but their styles weren't really very similar at all.

This is going to make some people grimace... but John Starks might be a good comparison (though Mobley is a better driver, imo). That said, Starks takes a little too much stick for that terrible game against Houston. He was often instrumental in the wins for the Knicks.

Where would be be? We'd be 2-2 but not a worse team. If Cat Mobley were replaced with a Jon Barry type, we'd be even better. Pure shooter role player is what we need.
