Peyton Manning has as many rings as Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson.

Pretty low. Put up huge numbers but couldn't be counted on in the playoffs. I don't even think the Oilers made it to the AFC Championship.

If not for Tyree catching the ball off his helmet and Welkers drop pass he'd probably have 2 more. It wasn't Brady's play that cost them.

Big Ben isn't even the best QB in his draft class lmao.

He was blessed with an incredible Steelers defense, he had that one amazing throw (also an amazing catch by Santonio) but he also had the worst passer rating in superbowl history by a winner. He's probably more overrated than Aikman....

Manning's behind Montana, Unitas & Brady.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you. Gilbride and co. went "conservative" in the 2nd half and not everyone can have a Steve Jackson in their team defense. Moon couldn't stop Frank Reich or Joe Montana.

I don't like to revisit the '93 Bills game but I remember Moon throwing a critical late game pick to Nate Odomes. Also, didn't John Elway have a crazy last second drive in 92 as well?

And yet, the greatest offense ever (at the time) only scored 14 points in that game. If they had won either of those Superbowls, it would have been in large part because of the defense rather than Brady coming up big.

All of those were when he was asked to be Russell Wilson - basically make clutch plays here and there but not put the team on his shoulders. Since he's gone from that to centerpiece-of-the-team, he's come up short many, many times in big playoff games. This year, you could blame on a lack of weapons, but just last year when his team was loaded, he put up a playoff performance vs Baltimore very similar to Peyton's yesterday.

Manning has never had that situation that Brady did early in his career. He's been the centerpiece of his teams since day 1.

Come on man. Manning had many years of Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Edgerrin James, Marshall Faulk - hardly devoid of any weapons.

He and Faulk only played together one year, Manning's rookie year. Not sure I'd put Dallas Clark in there as someon who would be a top-end TE without Manning as his QB.

 I never said Manning had no weapons? I said Manning was always the centerpiece of his teams - the offense was built around him. When Brady was winning Superbowls, he was not asked to be the centerpiece of his teams.

Since Brady has become the dominant all-world player like Manning, he's had plenty of horrific playoff games - same as Manning. The idea that Brady doesn't choke in big games is just not supported by the evidence. They are both great, and they both have struggled against great defenses in the playoffs. Mannng is 1-2 in Superbowls where's he's been THE guy. Brady is 0-2. Brady is 3-0 when he's played a Russell Wilson type role.

Peyton's performance last night was Case McCoy-esque - herping and derping around like a chump for 4 quarters.

In 2010, Tom Brady had a total QBR of 8.9 in a loss to the Jets. (for comparison, Manning yesterday was at 24). In 2009, he had a 4.2 total QBR, with a wretched QB rating of 49 in a thrashing by Baltimore. He threw for 150 yards and had 3 INTs. He averaged 3.7 yards per attempt. NE was down 24-0 and lost by 20 to a Baltimore team who's QB threw for a total of 34 yards and an INT (QB Rating of 10).

Brady's had just as bad games as Manning. And since his last SB win, he's been worse overall than Manning in the postseason (and 0-2 head-to-head). Again, the idea that Brady never chokes and would have done much better yesterday doesn't hold up to reality.

Brady's numbers are superior to Manning almost across the board:

    Peyton Manning

    Playoff record: 11-12
    Home playoff record: 8-5
    Road playoff record: 2-5
    Non-wild card playoff record: 8-8
Playoff points per game average: 22.52
    Super Bowl starts: 3
    Super Bowl rings: 1

    Tom Brady

    Playoff record: 18-8
    Home playoff record: 12-3
    Road playoff record: 3-3
    Non-wild card playoff record: 16-7
Playoff points per game average: 25.12
    Super Bowl starts: 5
    Super Bowl rings: 3

Brady has been to 5 Super Bowls with a QB rating of 94 and 9 TD's and only 2 INT's.

Manning has been to 3 Super Bowls with a QB rating of 81 and 3 TD's and 4 INT's.

Did you choose to just ignore everything I posted? Or did you just prefer to create a strawman? As I've said multiple times, Brady's success is very different when he's been the focal point of his team (as Manning has his whole career) vs when he was asked to play the Russell Wilson role (and went 9-0).

You may think that's irrelevant, and that's fair. But why would you think posting career statistics would be relevant to my argument when everything I'm talking about is that his statistics are very different for different parts of his career?

Saying Brady wasn't the "focal point" of the Patriots is asinine. He was the life and blood of that team for each of their Super Bowls. You think Adam Vinatieri won those games by himself?
