never knew why people think JVG still wants to coach the Knicks, like it was always his team, like he is the ultimate New Yorker for the job...

the job is so unappealing and JVG is done with NY

JVG is the perfect coach for the Knicks. Because of his reputation in the Big Apple, he can bench players without hesitation. If they dare to thug out on him, they are heading to the dog house.

Actually I said it first. I stated on here back in July he'd coach at St. John's School (high school), but after he took the ESPN gig, he'd coach Rice next season because Wilson isn't getting it done. He lives less than 5 minutes away too, and he has Charlie Ward waiting at Westbury for a college assistant job.

I could see Ward pulling off a decent recruiting job. His NBA experience is something that would excite potential NBA prospects. They could learn the ropes from Ward and JVG. Actually keep some of that Houston talent in the city. If anything Van Gundy should get UH, Penders is just a mad scientist hopped up on acid.

I cant see JVG recruiting like you have to do in college to be sucessfull. That seems like something that would piss him off like nothing else.

Openings now in Milwaukee and Chicago and almost assuredly New York ... I'm sure we'll start to hear JVG's name being tossed around here soon.

It'd have to be Chicago if anyone. I see Rick Carlisle going to the Knicks.

It all depends on how much knicks will offer. I doubt he'll turn down anything from 13 to 20 million a year.

I hope the man gets his payday! He deserves it!

Didn't read every post in here so the thoughts may have already been expressed.

Skiles seems to be the choice of the Bucks.

Donnie Walsh has history with Mark Jackson (one time Pacer PG) while VG basically has none that I'm aware of.

Chicago would be an interesting selection. But the Bulls...like the Grizz who seem to be stayinng with Iavaronni...are a young team.

Now that I've said that....aren't most of the available opportunities with young rosters? Guaranteed to drive VG bonkers.

VG to the Grizz!!!!! :D :p

I actually think JVG will go back to the Knicks simply because NY can probably offer the most.

I'm surprised the Bucks didn't pursue him.

I think Van Gundy said himself not under the current managment of the Knicks.
