Why give up on him so quick. It's true what they always say, it's a player's league. The coach is not solely responsible for the thriving of the offense.
You are right. He needs to players to execute his crappy offense in order for it to be as bad as it is...
You know what record we had in 1999 (after the same amount of games) when we had that fiasco with Scottie Pippen? 13-9! Obviously this year I'm glad that JVG is teaching us some good defense in that certainly has help us in some of these close games we won. At the same time it had made up the crappy offense we have this year to barely eek out games against the Nuggets, Warriors, and Jazz. Now look how we did against the Spurs? Having no offense aside from a decent defense won't cut it against the top five or six teams of the west. I agree that what some posters are saying about how everyone's trying to sacrifice their game a bit to get Yao the ball, but if he still to scared to get real physical with 7-footers and settling for off balance hook-shots, the offense will continue to struggle. I think what JVG needs to do with YAO in practice is that in scrimages, have YAO posted up with Cato or Maurice Taylor inside. Then when someone attempts a shot, tell Yao to go up for the rebound with two hands and give him a good idea on how to box out prior to a shot attempt from the opposing team.
