Tilt at Memorial City Mall when I was in high school, now I only go to the Tilt in the Galleria for Tekken 6, and on very rare occasion, Planet Zero.
Bingo... those 3 places are exactly where I used to play. I loved Games People Play. When they built the waterslides it was on like Donkey Kong.
i think if I found a cyber ball game I would buy it! [talking about the arcade version] Rocket River need to find a good simulator
Oh yeah. Those were the days. Play some mini golf...ride the waterslides...then plunk quarters into video games for what seemed like an eternity. Life was simple...life was good.
Does anybody remember the Malibu Grand Prix that was off of Katy Fwy that had a castle next door, what was the name of that place? I remember going there a few times. Celebration Station on SW Fwy was another. I think one of the places I went to the most next door the what used to be a Dollar Cinema on Westheimer and Old Westheimer Rd (now known has Houston Centre Rd or something).
Ditto. I actually worked at Games for two years in college. In the late '80's, that place was run by KOHS, KFHS and Westfield seniors and alumni. Twice a summer we'd shut down early, order some pizzas, roll in a keg and throw an all-night party...drunken go-carting and waterslide surfing followed by Gauntlet marathons. I've asked this before, anybody remember what was on that site in the late '70's before Games? Anybody remember the name of the arcade witht he indoor Putt-Putt just off I-45 at either the Richey Rd. or Air-Tex exit. There was a big lighthouse in the middle of the bumper boat pond. Spent a lot of time there, too.
I have a tournament Cyberball 2072 (4 player version in storage). But if you have an XBox 360, you can download it and play it on Xbox live. DD
I was 7 when the 80's rolled around, so I can't help you with that one. Wasn't that a Celebration Station at I-45 and Richey? Maybe it was open under a few different names, but I remember going to a Celebration Station at that location for the batting cages then popping over the to the AMC Theater across the street (now a Corvette dealership) for a movie.
I did those spots as well.. when I stayed with my grandma... My spot in my town was a place called Yesterdays at Brazos Mall.
Bay Market Video on Pineloch and Space Center Blvd in Clear Lake....SF2 and I believe they had TMNT too, circa 1992
Almeda Mall Greenspoint Mall Jamail's grocery store (on Northpark Dr. in Kingwood) There was an arcade on Russell-Palmer Rd. in Kingwood, too (can't remember the name). Games People Play (1960) Golf and Games (Humble) The number one hangout in Kingwood, TX 1980-1984: Wheels & Wings.
Aladdin's Castle in Baybrook Mall, Putt Putt on Nasa Rd 1, Len's Ice Cream, and a number of other little shops and groceries around Clear Lake City.
almeda mall, baybrook, this grocery store on 2351 and blackhawk(they had street fighter "hyper" edition...a hacked copy where u can do air fireballs and change characters...., USA Golf & Games which is still open... all the asian supermarkets downtown... lol
Ah, good ole Fame City! I used to hang out there ALL THE TIME. So close. I lived at Synott and Dairy Ashford. Also, West Oaks Mall was a big one for the arcade.
While I lived in Houston North Line Mall and Fun Factory. You guys might not believe it but the mall in Huntsville had a pretty good arcade I don't even remember what they called it but I do remember playing Final Fight, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat. I watched Rocky III on TV the other day and the have that scene where he goes into an arcade and you can see some of the really old games and brings back a lot of good memories.
