Apparently scalping is illegal in Dallas, so they set up the "ticket corral" instead: 3/5/03 Big 12 Tournament ticket trading in Dallas From the Dallas Convention Bureau - important information if you are attending the tournaments, or know someone who is: As many of you know, the city of Dallas has an ordinance prohibiting the public sale of any item for any amount without a permit on city property. In order to assure that Big 12 fans have an enjoyable experience in Dallas, we respectively ask if you could circulate this memo with ticket sales, post on your web site or distribute in any manner you deem appropriate. Basically, the Dallas Host Committee has a special event permit for a defined area of the West End in downtown which will be easily identified by barricades and security. This permit allows us to sell items in our defined space. These items include food, soft drinks and beer sales, merchandise sales and other event related items. This is also the area we want to encourage all of your fans to visit when they are trading their tickets. We will make every effort along with the Big 12 to announce this at each game.
Time Warner Digital Cable lists KNWS-51 as broadcasting the Texas vs. Tech/Baylor game Friday March 14th beginning at 6:00 PM.
Scalping is only illegal on city property. We have numerous stores like Ticket Stop here. My only point is that it would be ridiculous to be upset if they chose showing the Rockets over UT's first game in the BigXII tourney, in Houston.
And guess what, the UT website also lists KNWS as showing the game. Could this be an error? The website also notes the radio broadcast is being moved to KBME because of the Rockets on KILT.
Odd. I have Dish Network and they're listing the Rockets game at that time slot on Channel 51, not the Texas game. I don't know what to believe anymore. I don't want to be caught off guard tomorrow, so I won't take the chance of staying home. Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'll try D&B, since I'm not that much for drinking and I don't eat at restaurants.
Per program manager at KNWS: - They will be carrying games 1 & 2 the 12:00 & 2:30 games live - There is a good chance they will be tape delaying the other two(including the UT game) HOWEVER They are in conversations with PAX TV here in Houston and PAX may be picking those 2 games up. The decision has not been made as of yet. He told me to give him a call back around 4:00 and he would let me know what the final decision is, it could be as late as 5:30 before they are certain. I will be sure to post it as soon as I find out.
The game should be aired live. Of course I'll be at the Rockets game I gotta stand up for the UT folks who want to watch the game in the comfort of their living room.
A&M, out of the torney, I went to the rodeo last night, guess what school every kid who won a scholarship wanted to attend. I know it makes since, but just hearing it over and over and over, was just reinforcing the stereotype, especially while they're hugging on a steer, "I going to Texas A&M, Whoop.
LOL! I could just picture the guy who wins the heifer raising contest saying. "I'm gon go to Tex-is Aie in EM. Ain't nuthin but steers and queers over at Tay-You (TU)."
Watkins should be fired, they are pathetic. I actually thought they were heading in the right direction, but the more I look at it, they flat out suck. They have had 1 winning season in 10 years.
But no one is dumber than: If you missed the KSU Colorado game last night, you missed the funniest moment in Big 12 tourney history. With KSU up 2 and less than 5 seconds left in the game, CU inbounded the ball on the side on the other half of the court. The CU player threw it right to a KSU player who started celebrating by running with the ball. He was called for traveling. CU inbounded the ball on the side, and Wright hit the game winning 3 for CU. Classic comedy
Holy sh*t! Are you serious? That's crazy. Kinda reminds me of when Dwayne Rudd threw his helmet in the air thinking that the Browns won, and was flagged, costing his team the game.
That was one of the funniest things since Cris Dishman started high stepping and holding the ball out after an INT only to get it stripped before scoring. This gets the edge though b/c that was in a pre-season game.
