Great stuff!! Thanks a ton. Found this while looking around... http://www.off2vegas.com/hotspecials.html
Smeggy, I've never stayed at New York New York, but i've been inside the casino and midway and its a really fun place. The atmosphere is cool and the roller coaster is AWESOME at night if roller coasters are your thing. At the New York New York you'll be closest to the Excalibur, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, and the Tropicanna if I am correct. You'll be within walking distance of many more of the casinos, but these are the ones that are like right across the street and next door. I know most adults don't go to Vegas to play video games (especially on their honeymoon) but you HAVE to check out the Gameworks arcade right down the street...You actually go down below the street as the arcade is underground, this arcade is one of the largest in the world if not THE largest if I remember correctly!
Cool roller coaster and thats about it. Cool place to visit, but not exactly a super nice place to stay.
Aside for the theme the only reason i mentioned New York New York in particular was the appeal of their Jacuzzi room which have the spa within a couple of metres of the bed
anyone seen this page, some great specials http://www.travel2vegas.com/latimes.html anyone tried these??? which is the best saving?? Need some serious reccommendations, as the prices for post April 1 will be out soon and we can actually book stuff for the trip. Other things we need advice on, somewhere to stay near the Grand Canyon, somewhere to stay in LA for one night, likely near whereever the Anaheim hockey team play.
Vegas was fun . You will never forget it. Studio 54 was great. Go on tuesday night. Each club has a hot night. Tuesday is it for 54. Amazing experience. $20 cover unless you stay in hotel. Bellagio dancing water was much better than I could have imagined. Artificial Beach at Madalay was pretty cool. just an amazing time. Bet on sports games too. That was entertaining. roulette is a dangerous game. It takes your money. Wow! Great time. I loved it!
I stayed at the MGM. We had very good rates at $59.99 per night. Whatever hotel you stay at, ask the desk if they have an upgrade. It doesn't hurt to ask, MGM gave us an upgrade for only $10 and our room was 10x better than it would have been. MGM is nice. They have Lions inside, the best buffet, Rick Springflied, a nice sports book, and Studio 54. Studio 54 was free if you stay in the Hotel. The buffet is also buy one get one free for those in the hotel. That's a good deal. Pool was quiet, but nice. They have a tube ride that was being renovated. There is no theme to MGM, but it's huge and lot's of fun. MGM also had enrigue, aerosmith, and kid rock. So they know how to put on a show. MGM felt like it was right in the heart of the strip, but Bellagio is really in the middle of it. That's the place to be. Strip is pretty small, but you want to be on it because you do a lot of walking. Miriah Carey is getting a whole block on the strip for her show. They are digging it out right now. Damn. I wouldn't stay at the Mandalay Bay with Shark Reef because it's to far out. I think you definately want to be on the strip so you can walk around. Mandalay is nice, but it's a good walk. I didn't go into the Circus themed Hotel, it's one of few hotels I didn't see, but it was toward one end of the strip as well. It wasn't quite in the middle of things if I remember correctly. More on the side of the old strip where Flamingo (first hotel) is. Not as fancy of an area. That might be more of a family hotel too. You want to be careful about that if you want romance. Some hotels are geared more for adults. Bring some comfortable shoes. Weather is about 70 all year. No rain except for the fake rainstorms inside some of the hotels.
By the way, no matter what hotel you pick it will be good. They all have something fun to do. You will get to see all the hotels and experience them so don't worry. You'll have a good time no matter where you stay. By the way MGM was going to be Disney themed, as in Wizard of Oz, but they changed their mind. The emerald color of the hotel related back to the emarald city in Wizard of Oz. You might also notice, strangely, that the NEW York hotel doesn't have the twin towers.
I highly recomend staying in your car. It will save you money so that you can gamble longer. Honeymoons come and go, but Vegas is a one time experience! Have fun!
