So far I'd go with: Alston (Ballhandler ONLY, hopefully if they insert Wafer into the starting line-up they would give Wafer all of Alston's shots.) Wafer (Penetrates, 3pt threat) McGrady (Hopefully penetrates, mid-range) Scola (mid-range, post threat) Yao (Post threat) Brooks, Batter, Artest, Landry, Hayes to allow Brooks and Artest take the majority of the shots with Battier and Hayes in the 2nd unit.
Starters: PG - Alston SG -Wafer SF - Battier PF - Scola C - Yao Can play inside/out, pick & pop, runs Rick's offene best. Good defense and rebounding. Second Unit: PG - Brooks SG - McGrady or Barry SF - Artest PF - Landry C - Zeke or Chuck Great inside and outside shooters. No let up on defense or hustle. Most opportunistic when faced with a busted play. Good mix of speed, experience, scoring, and defense, rebounding skills on either side of the ball on both units.
I understand that you are putting each of us incharge of formatting our own starting line up!So this is what I would have as my starting Five McGrady comes back in decent shape both physically and mentally and has determination written all over his face. IMHO Starting Point Guard -Tracy McGrady Starting Shooting -Guard Von Waffer Small Forward -Shane Battier Power Forward -Louis Scola Center -Y. Ming Second Five Point Guard Rafer Alston Shooting Guard - Arron Brooks Small Forward - Ron Artest Power Forward - Carl Landry Center- Mutombo Active backups Guards Berry, when Alston wont pass the ball , coach takes him out and puts Berry in Power Chuck Hayes -plays defensive stoppper I make this dramatic change because McGrady is our best Playmaker and Alston is so poor !!! McGrady would be the(Captain) floor General and would be responsible for making it run like clockwork. It might give him a sense of appreciation
I agree with this. As much as I love AB, I still prefer him as a spark off the bench as of right now. In my eyes, Wafer is the clear option behind Grady for the 2 spot, with Barry getting 5-7 minutes per game (especially if Brooks is in...Those two seem to have some chemistry) I still prefer Ron Ron off the bench, as he'll be more free to get shots after Yao & Grady started the game. Then at the center, it'll have to be the Chuckwagon with Deke getting situational minutes versus teams with larger than usual bigs.
Looks great to me. Any lineup that puts Rafer on the bench good. But one thing Rafer can do that Tracy can't: Bring the ball up quick. We will all miss that aspect of Rafer's game.
He will be great comming off the bench. Usually, past few seasons we didn't get enough offense from the SG spot. I mean obviously, McGrady will be T-Mac, and when he goes to the bench we still need some scorers. Wafer will be great as T-Mac's backup. Why? Because this guy is a scorer, he attacks the basket and can shoot it, and what is more important, he can create his own shot. Luther can't.
Wafer is better than Tmac with Yao.....he takes advantage of the driving lanes better than anyone on the team and gets to the rack and can finish. I would move Tmac to SF....Wafer to me....has earned the starting spot...he has to stay. DD
I think Wafer stays in the rotation primarily as TMac's back-up. We need to have legitimate scoring threats on the bench, and Battier starting will help with TMac's defensive deficiencies. I don't see him starting, especially when the playoffs roll around. I'm also worried he's going to come back down to earth pretty soon.
No, the current starters keep there spots unless someone beats them out. Rafer would be in the most danger....to Brooks...and if Tmac comes back with a new "Tude" then Battier or Wafer... DD
I think it depends on where Tracy's at when he returns. If he looks like crap(hopefully not) I say keep Wafer in the starting line up. If Tracy comes back Tmac style, Wafer off the bench with Artest and Brooks.
Starters: PG) Waffer* 20-30mins SG) T-Mac 20-30mins SF) Battier** 20-30mins PF) Scola*** 20-25mins C) Yao 30-35mins Bench: PG) Brooks 15-25mins SG) Barry 10-15mins SF) Artest** 25-30mins PF) Landry*** 20-30mins C) Mutombo 10-15mins * Waffer is interchangeable to play PG and SG ** Battier and RonRon can be played at the same time at SG and SF. *** Scola and Landry can be played at the same time at PF and C Deep: C) Dorsey TRADE!!! : PG) Rafer Alston* SG) Luther Head* I personally think that Von Waffer can handle the point if he was given a chance to. He's quick, can dribble, shoot, and dunk. The only thing I question is his passing, but he can certainly handle the ball better then Alston.
At this point we are too crowded for minutes, trade luther for a pick and cash. Give Wafer 20min's a night and we will be alright.
No offense to the creator of this thread but this is just a plain hope thread. Has there ever been more than 2 games in a row in the last 3-4 years in which every rotational player has been healthy? I come to the realization like many others that there is no chance there wont be at least one rotational player injured. But say by the rare miracle the Rockets get one or two of those days this season. I would keep the same starting rotation as last season. With Wafer, Landry, Artest, Brooks and Deke coming off the bench.
i would be happy to see he and brooks playing a lot of minutes with yao. they are the best compliments to him. yao scola ron wafer brooks --------- deke-chuck landry shane tmac rafer
It doesnt matter will Wafer start or not, it really matters is how long he play, I think he deserves to play at least 20 mins a game, or even more depends on if he is hot or not
That's a very legit point. I'm just not so sure that it's the most important thing. Even the most fluid offense that leads to open rhythm shots and what not isn't always going to work without the talent to make catch and shoots and iso's when the D steps up. So basically, I'm not so opposed to the usual Yao low post and T-Mac PnR and T-Mac off the elbow screen offense if T-Mac comes back good. The Rockets can be efficient without Adleman's offense within the parameters of the starters (Yao, T-Mac, Rafer, Battier, and Scola). In my opinion, neither T-Mac nor Yao actually run Adleman's offense very well. Yao can see the passes from the high post, but he usually has a late reaction on those. He's a better passer from the post. And any screen movement with Yao in the game is the same stuff from Van Gundy's days, which is with the aim of getting Yao in the left low block with 8 or more seconds left on the clock. So really my only true opposition to Wafer in the starting lineup other than saying that the Van Gundy style offense with great players isn't so bad, is the fact that other teams go into auto-post up mode with their bigger 2 guard. It's the same with Chuck Hayes playing center. Now I love Hayes' hustle and guts and toughness, but for every successful down strip move, there are usually 2 shooting fouls and made baskets to accompany that.
With TMc on the floor the ballhandling needs are eased, almost obviated. So, I think I'd like to see some pairing of VW driving at the '1' when TMc is taking over; Brooks most of the rest of the time. And less of Rafe.
anyone that think he deserves to start because of this little streak of good games is smoking some good columbian bam bam and i want some. i dont' smoke. i would sell it though. it'd be a commodity where i'm at... anyways. mcgrady is a PROVEN starter, scorer, facilitator. Wafer will have earned a starting spot when mcgrady comes back, and he continues to outplay mcgrady. like, to the point were adelman puts Cookie out there in the 4th instead of mcgrady. if that happens, he deserves the start. he may NEVER start, for moreso front-office reasons, even if he deserves it. no big deal. he won't care. starting aint nothing. it's about who finishes.
