Lol there goes that rascal Patrick Beaver always getting caught up in weird tangles that turn into fights! That's one thing I like about euro ball, they let a lot of stuff go and don't call too many ticky tack fouls.
He was soft until he got to Greece. You don't mess with the goat herders with their rich creamy yogurt. Also:
When he came into the spotlight of the OKC Westbrook incident, he specifically cited playing in these leagues as the reason he could handle the pressure. He said he'd played through people throwing metal objects at him etc. Seeing the clip above, seems the play was just as intense On a side note, playing or even watching a game like that would be such fun
Wrong. He got his toughness the same place Chuck Hayes got his toughness... in the SEC. Where men are built.
You are correct. Someone posted an interview last season where Bev talked about being knocked around on the asphalt as a kid. Whereas his buddies were playing AAU ball inside hardwood gyms, Bev's family couldn't afford AAU, and so his bruising style of play was developed by playing pickup ball against much older, larger guys on the asphalt in Chi-town's projects. NBA bumps, scrapes, bruises... meh, that's nothing compared to the pounding he took growing up in Chicago.
Patrick Beverley is the new Kevin Walter. Such an easy name to say, yet so difficult for people to spell correctly.
It isn't that simple... there are many players from Chicago that lack the toughness Bev has. I am sure growing up poor with such a strong mother helped, being an under dog, playing against thugs and adults helped. Getting in trouble at Arkansas and fighting through it helped.... playing in Europe against grown men helped......... but above all, it is just who Bev is, something inside him that has driven him to overcome everything........
That's exactly what I thought. I wasted my time watching the whole thing looking for a fight and there wasn't any.
