what?! the rox signed an injured francis to a two year deal, where he has hardly even participated in PRACTICE yet you're saying the org owes him something out of loyalty??? wtf??? don't you know the injury was pre-existing & the org knew that? still they signed him up and have not once said a single bad thing about him. this while he is still collecting 30 MILL from his prior contract. wtf are u talking about? as for dream, he stated earlier in his career that he wanted to finish his career in Canada. do you not remember that either??
Yeah if not tonight then tomorrow hopefully. But if im wrong i do remember an article from the chron saying Steve should be on the court mid December or early January at the latest. I really want to see him play but I wouldn't rush it. The team is doing all right. If something isn't broken why fix it. I know its good to experiment but I would at least try when things are falling apart or even in a blowout game. Hopefully that can happen
Oh please, this thread and the long "Where is SF3" thread are the only one recent ones. Show me the "Adelman Hates SF" threads. Of course, those threads are filled with angry people that hate Steve because hes done something horrible to them.
I really hope we are up 30 tonight and Steve gets like 7-8 min in the 4th so we can put this debate to bed. Look he is not cracking the starting 5 and Brooks/Barry/Landry/Artest/Hayes makes it a 10 deep rotation so I'm not sure where y'all think he will fit in unless one of Brooks/Barry/Alston go down for the year
That is probably the most real news your going to get. Steve must show signs in practice that he's ready and apparently he hasn't. Now it may be because he's still rehabbing or getting back in shape or not picking up the O scheme (remember he has a heavy ISO background) or attitude of he deserves to play because he's SF3 and doesn't need to practice. No one here knows what the reason is but the only known news which makes sense is according practice sessions, Steve has not shown Rick what he wants to see before he puts him on the floor in a real game - even when we're short handed.
Like i said before Francis is a gamer, it doesn't matter if he nevered practiced. You put him on a court with a ball and a crowd. he will give you what he has, nobody knows how much that is anymore. At least you know he is going to play with some heart!
Usually, those garbage minutes are for young guys. You rarely see vets play in garbage minutes. Rick never played Deke in blowout minutes and Steve got his chance during real minutes last year, not garbage minutes. The only way Steve plays is if our team struggles. Rick only tweaks rotations and lineups when things are going bad. Thats how Steve got into the rotation last year. Our guards, mainly James and Head, stunk it up so he decided to give Steve a shot. As of now, our team has been playing well. Not bad enough to where Rick has to switch up the rotation.
He always mentioned that he loved Canada, true. But, he wanted to get paid by the Rockets, and the Rockets lowballed him. That's why he left.
heavy iso, sure but we haven't seen much "adelman" offense yet this year. and much of our success has been returning to yao. like jvg said, he wanted to go into the locker room and say "hello everybody, this man's name is yao. he is the most dominant big man in the nba" now i'm a big fan of von wafer and AB, but we have some guards that need to re-focus from time to time on the big man. steve francis was really good at getting the ball to yao. the two had each other in each other's head. francis put himself in outstanding shape coming off rehab. brent barry is under performing in offense. luther had 1 good game. usually we've seen adelman let these guys play. he's been very forgiving in letting these guys sort of independently fall into their groove, play themselves into game shape, and find their role. von may pull a luther in the playoffs. rafer and barry might get injured. its good to get steve francis involved and into the system during the regular season, cause lets face it, steve plays with lots of heart and will power in the playoffs. and maybe we can't hide behind practices anymore. let's have some webcam transparency. i dont like how the argument is made that "there is a thing called practice" and then its a simple shut case. i want to see these practices. i want them reported adequately. oh there are practices? then why aren't you or anyone else reporting them sufficiently. was francis there? did the coaches allow him to get involved. how did he mix with the team? what were the scrimmage stats. how fast does his first step look? i want reporters to report cause i need closure!
Don't bother with verse. The dude spins history worse than the Japanese do the WWII chapters of their textbooks. Francis wasn't brought back here out of any loyalty. The Rockets got him (and the other three point guards they acquired last year) because they were desperate to replace Alston.
so do you think the rox owe him a shot out of loyalty, as well? answer that question. you may not have liked my reasonong, but you never disagreed with my point that we do NOT owe him that. if u don't think so, we're on the same side of Pearl Harbor...just with differing perspectives. step up and give me your opine... CHI, I won't dispute the $ issues between dream & the rox. you are right in that we offered him less than he wanted. we offered what was probably fair mv, imo, and he didn't agree. we found an amicable solution and moved forward. from a fan's side, I feel what you're saying. it just doesn't feel right. but from the biz side, it wasn't - at that time - such an egregious error. in retrospect, yes, it wouldn't have made much diff if we would've paid dream since our other players ended up being trash. at the time, though, there was hope.
If Francis can come back and be efficient with his minutes it works out best for everyone we have so much flexibility in our roster and how our Tracy Battier and Artest can play different positions that having Francis back and being productive would give much more rest to our other players its the best thing for our team to play francis and brooks and barry(sucks he is injured) more minutes so tracy or battier or artest can play less. That way come playoff time we will, hope to god, be injury free and rested. Besides our offense greatly needs those quick energetic guys to come out and produce. AND we need a backup for Yao asap a true big man just for situations Deke is perfect hes da only guy in the league that is a good player and has no problem sitting until needed wether he sits for months and months str8 or comes in and plays 10 mins a night.
There is no way in hell Head should be playing ahead of SF3, no matter what condition Francis is in. It's absolutely ridiculous. All of Head's mins should be Francis's at the very least.
