Hmm checked the NBA info page, Battier's 6-8 and 220. I guess he just looks slim compared to Scola's bulky frame.

From what I'm reading the Rockets are playing alot with Steve and MJ in the backcourt which would leave Mcgrady at the 3. He really has to earn the starting job this year, because A loves small ball. He might have a bench of Wells, Battier, Head, Aaron or Rafer, Deke. Which gives you some defense and scoring.

It is easy to miss out Shane as people concentrate more on Francis, Scola and James. If you look at most articles from the Chron and BBS, they seldom mention bout Shane. But hey, Shane is gearing up for the season!

    America's Next Country Star...............NBA Player?

But in all seriousness, it shows you the potential of this team....at worst this team will make it to 2nd round of the playoffs and lose in the 7 game series to an eventual champs. At best, we win around 61-68 games and sweep every game until the conference finals on route to NBA Championship.

It's not just those big new guys, though. I've even heard about Luther, Chuck, Alston (obviously), Mutombo, etc... basically every guy on our roster from last year EXCEPT Battier, and he wasn't exactly chopped liver.

As an example, I think practically every guy who's going to be on our roster has been mentioned in clutch's Training Camp recaps except for Battier.
