how about who cares where francis is...his lack of professionalism cost himself his career and respect but not any money. he has shut it down and he is finished as a productive player in this league.
and Morey said this morning that even when he is healthy unless there are injuries there probably isn't much of a chance of him seeing playing time. The dude is done. Les wasted his money on sentiment.
Every time there's a Francis thread there's always people that say he's done, washed up, not returning, Francis sucks, he's no good for this team, there's other help out there and yet every frickin Steve Francis thread turns out to be about 8 pages long. One way or another people care. For good reason too because HE WILL BE BACK! The only people that don't want to see him back are the haters in denial.
I would love to see him make a comeback. What a story that would be? If he takes the court in February as some predict, the TC will go crazy!
I hope Steve continues to work hard and gets back into playing shape. Either way its a win for the rockets, If he is serviceable but just not good enough to make our rotation we package him with a player like head and get some picks or cap releif. Best case he is able to contirute and we use him as a change of pace player to use againts some of the bigger points in the league.
watching these videos tells me stevie cant be done theres no way.he was injured during these games as well i still have hope for steve hes still one of my favorite players and always will be.whenever i have off games or need to be motivated i go watch steve francis mixes i just wont accept hes done until he retires though im slowly losing hope as every time i see an update i still have hope. The day he retires will be a sad day for me but i am still happy for all the memories he gave me and how hard he used to work.sure hes lost some athleticism but that doesn't mean hes done i refuse to believe it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icuT1PJ43nw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THLrXJHc7YI cmon guys he was injured here and this was only a year ago u gotta have hope for him.and for people who said he lost his athleticism in new york and has been done since this was only like a year and half ago no way he loses all his athleticism in one season http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=282qlYibN84 STEVE I WILL BELIEVE
Way to go BrooksBall, you followed Steve Francis while he was an unknown and seen him grow over the years, that just makes your stance even more ridiculous? Your theory is that he's washed up because of his injury, people can't get injured and make a comeback. I mean this injury is not at all like the broken down Bobby Sura comeback attempt. With your mentality, Amare was through when his knee went bad, still playing. Grant Hill's nagging ankle that's been the talk of his career, he's through, still playing sufficient at 35 or 36. People on this team even. With your mentality, Tmac is through because his injuries year in and year out, the hips, the knee, the back, the shoulder. Still playing and trying to get back to 100%. Yao's countless injuries, same deal. Mind you this is Francis' first major injury of his career that required surgery. And just like the examples I listed, he still has a chance for success. And I am in disbelief that a healthy Steve Francis, injury free STILL third string behind Brooks AND Alston? Get the hell out of here. Alston would either not have a job or he himself would be third string had Francis been injury-free when he was signed. Bash and call me a lover or fanboy all you want but point blank. Steve has always been better than Alston, and still is. Each time I see a Alston clunker, a failed drive that ends with a horrible miss or a swat, him getting his butt handed to him by the opposing point guard, inserting Steve Francis in Alston's place changes everything. Alston mind you is playing absolutely pathetic and yet he still would start and have Francis third string behind them both? That threw all your "I knew him since before he was a Terp, not a hater" talk out the window. Like someone said, Francis on one leg is better than Head on two. Francis on two good legs is better than Alston/Head/Wafer/Brooks/Barry. And that's what Francis is trying to get back to. So lets reserve judgment til he finally plays.
Preach on brotha, SF3 will be back and will own all the haterz. An 70%-80% Francis is way better than Alston/Brooks at their best. He's the only PG that isnt afraid to drive to the hole.
Don't kid yourselves, if Francis is healthy enough to play and not be injured, at the VERY LEAST he's just as good as aaron brooks. (ie a scorer and not playmaker if you want to go that route). now whether he could run the offense better than rafer...probably not until he practices more, but I don't see any reason if he really is recovering he couldn't come back and be awesome in February.
You people must be high. Steve is done. He's washed up. He's lost his quickness and that all he ever had. He's never run an offense in his life. His idea of running the offense is skipping the ball up the court then dribbling off his foot or dribbling until the shot clock is at 2 seconds then hoisting up an off the mark three pointer. The said today, "unless there is an injury he's doubtful to get any minutes". All the coaches and the GM know that Alston (as bad as he can be) and Brooks (who is just starting to get comfortable and confident) are both better than Steve at this point in his career. No way is Steve better than Brooks and H-town_playa2k2 must be so high he misses Brooks driving into the paint EVERY GAME.
You are taking that quote out of context. Of course he's not going to get minutes now, he just started practicing.
the only thing keeping SF3 on this roster is the potential that - if healthy - he will be the only backcourt player on the team that drives and looks for contact. even though AB0 is a great penetrator, he's a prober ala CP3, he doesn't drive and draw fouls like AI. This is a big hole for the rockets, as if we can draw fouls on opposing bigs, it means backups have to guard Yao. that being said, SF3 has to get healthy first. it remains to be seen if he'll get there.
Actually I'm not taking the quote out of context. I just went back and listened to it again and here it is verbatim... Look I'd love for Steve to prove me wrong but I have serious doubts. I also remember how horrible it was watching him try to run the offense when he was here. He has to have the ball to be effective and his quickness was the foundatition of his game. Now he's older and not as quick and basketball IQ never was his strong suit and setting up the offenese wasn't either.
You are reaching. He is far away from contributing because he just started practicing. Why rush him unless there is an injury? He looked pretty effective in his limited time last year. Amazing what playing with Luis Scola instead of Mo Taylor can do for your intelligence.
