that'll happen when you have 2 star pointguards on one team, when he wasn't injured, he did get good time off the bench. as for portland, they're a rebuilding team so why would they take him on? the only reason it was worth it to them was because they got to get rid of zach randolph in the process(did ya forget about that?). please think before you're gonna go off bashing steve, it's really obvious that you're throwing out stuff just because you think he's finished, when in all actuality there are many things to take into account in his situation.
Now i know your either a Francis hater or you just dont watch basetball. When he was with the knicks he was still putting up good numbers not great but good. Living in ny i see nothing but knicks and nets games and when he was with the knicks he was a good player. I guess you forgot at that time they had a player by the name of Stephon Marburry. Steph and Steve do have the same type of game. Everyone thought that backcourt would do something but having 2 guys with the same game would not work. They both need the ball in their hands to make something happen. You think Francis is done because he hasn't put up the same numbers he had in the past thats crazy. Just because he isn't dunking on everyone or making them fall is no reason to cast the man off.
Now I say your word really does not matter. Steve Francis no longer a NBA caliber player? Who Wafer a legitimate rotation guard? Think with your head, please! You talk trash toward an past all-star who is recovering from injury, just because you dream someone who struggles to make the team to be a legitimate backup guard, for what, two or three total decent games? Like I mentioned earlier, a lot of teams will give Francis a chance at the price of 1-2 million, while Who Wafer will still struggle to make a team. Don't you see it? As a matter of fact, I like Wafer's performance in the last couple of games, so this is nothing against him. I wish coach to continue use him to spread the floor occasionally.
His career numbers disagree with your point and so does Daryl Morey. Remember a genius like Morey is to good to make that big of a mistake to sign a washed up ball player. Steve simply has to show that he has the physical tools to play 15 to 20 min a game if necessary. A guy from the d-league can do that.
Last time I saw Steve Francis was in the Scareface video. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cD4XelnlPuQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cD4XelnlPuQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
LOLOLOLOL. He was an NBA caliber player last year when he was INJURED FOR CHRISTSAKES. Only player other than Magic Lebron and Grant Hill to average 18-5-5 for as long as he did. You think a guy like that can't be productive after missing 1 year and still being 31? Talk about being delusional......... He was great with the Knicks, but MarburyakaCancer was there.........Check the last 5 games of that season, Marbury was hurt and Steve averaged 25 a game.....
Couldn't agree more. If Steve's got the motivation and is willing to get healthy and work himself into game shape, then he's got a spot in the rotation. No question. Now, those are some big if's, but having confidence in Steve's ability to contribute doesn't make anyone a homer, waxing poetic about days long past. Sure, he'll never be Franchise again, but do we want him to be?
Francis is injured and has been off for a year. He is still not in team practice so it's not fair to say he is done. He should be given a chance to recover and then practise to see how well he can still play.
Morey said he is cleared to practice now.....so I guess we shall see whether he has it in him to come back and contribute. DD
Ok, about month later than we originally heard he would step out on the court. After a couple weeks of steady practice we should have a better indication of where he is and when or if he will be able to contribute. I am in the when category, and still sticking to mid-December as the earliest date he can suit up.
I met Steve's agent last week and chatted with her for 2 hours. She was unwilling to discuss Steve's injury progress at all though. I really hope he can come back, but my intuition tells me otherwise.
I wish him well... I think he still have games left in his tank... He did some good things last season before he went down... He just need to know and accept his new role with this team...
